Adding Sirius to my 328

I thought my car came with Sirius , but it doesn't. I was told it is just pre-wired for it. It's a brand new 08. Seems like the dealer wants 500 bucks for the part to add it . Is there a place that may sell this for less. I would like ot have it integrated instead of adding it externally. Thanks for any info.

I was in the same situation. Ended up buying Sat radio at Best Buy for $49:

Circle BMW has the sat radio 65209142852 ($415) and install kit 65110432318 ($60) for an E92. I printed out the prices and my local dealer matched them. The install was easy, the hardest part was pulling off the rear side bolster to reroute the MOST fibre optic cables and of course paying another 100 bucks to update the computers to recongize the sat radio.

I can't believe you need all that to do what my $49 Starmate from Best Buy can do. andI have 30 presets and a remote control.

Thanks for posting the pics!!!

Back in the day I would have gone the aftermarket route too to save a few bucks from the stealership but these day there isn't any reason too, plus it integrates well with the I-Drive. I thought the ipod would be enough so I never ordered it but my wife liked the SAT radio in the new Jeep WK so I figured I'll add it to the Cp as well. All said and done it wasn't much more than ordering it from the factory.

I bought my car off the showrom floor. I wish I could've custom ordered it. I would've gladly paid the extra few bucks to have this on my car from the factory.

Does anyone know if there are two different modules, one for iDrive and one non-iDrive?

I strongly doubt it. I have been on the fence about adding it to my E91 328 and now that I see where it goes, I will probably not - but mostly because

A) I want that space for my other audio gear

B) My iPod negates any need for it.

The picture shown above is apparently for the earlier E90s, not the e90 328i and 335i. I found this out when I was trying to tap into the sharkfin antenna wire on my 328i. I also checked our 335i, and it's the same. I'm not sure it makes any difference, but both have the premium package. The wiring, and installaiton location, for these is on the driver's side in the back of the trunk. Look for a plastic tray on the floor just behind the lights. If you pop this out and search around, you will find the Sirius power and antenna wiring (two separate bundles) - they're covered in a piece of black cloth. As I haven't seen what it looks like with the Sirius (or multi-CD) player installed, I'm not sure exactly how it all fits in, but this is where they go. Referencing the above picture, the bluetooth/Assist "brain" is on the right in the picture above, with nothing on the left. There are no extra wires either, so I'm not sure where you might safely tap power from if you put additional stereo gear on the left side.

Thanks for the tip. Don't worry, I'll run my own power wiring. Since I have an E91, I hope it's available space on my side too.

I also have an E90 328i and have been trying to figure out which part numbers to order?? I have come up with 3 different ones, the latest I have is:

SIRIUS Receiver(PN: 65 12 9 192 274)
Installation Kit(PN: 65 11 0 432 318)
Trim Panel(PN: 51 47 7 070 549)

you also need to have 0693 Satellite radio preparation option installed. There is a DIY for if you don't have it, but just a little more work.

There is no Sirius pre-wiring anymore from MY2010-on.

Does your MY2011 has iDrive?

The Sirius tuner is built into the iDrive, your local BMW dealer needs to activate it for around $400 (includes one year of service).
