Another Little PROcede Dyno Collection - With a Surprise Ending (V2>V3)

Some of them are a little off, like the first two that start off @ 3500rpm, this was back when i knew crapshit about dynos. The last one is the one thats got me puzzled. According to Dustin its boost oscillation, hope it goes away.

First: Stock



Second: PROcede 1.47 & Catback




Third: PROcede V2, CAI, Catback



Fourth: PROcede V2, DCi Fully Catless, but on a catted map. (Wrong Map)


Fifth: PROcede V2, DCI, Fully Catless (Right Map)



Sixth: PROcede V3, DCI, Fully Catless, Stage 2



Seventh: (For Shits and Giggles) The First Limp Mode Dyno



Couple of notes on the various dynos:

  • The limp mode was induced because of excessive torque values, nothing else. This was not included as a bash on Vishnu, just to get a laugh. Sometime people ask "whats a limp mode?" well, it pretty much turns your 335 into an '84 Volkwagon Rabbit.
  • The V3 Dyno was done with no adaptation, did the V2 dyno and cooled off, uninstalled V2 and installed V3.
  • No sims were installed on the V2, so yes i had a check engine light, but no limp.
  • Cooling could have been better.
  • Both Catless Dynos (V2 & V3) were done on stock torque settings.
  • Both Catless Dynos were done today with 62% humidy.
Needless to say i wasnt exactly jumping for joy, but was not dissappointed either. Will be back in a few weeks.

interesting results, and nice numbers with the V2, you've gained about 110rwhp and 150rwtq from stock which is really nice

btw were all these done at the same dyno??

And what were you're stock and V2 numbers with STD correction instead of SAE (most people here use STD correction so it make more sense to use it just for the sake of comparison with others)

Also you can always put the smoothing on 5 so the graph looks smoother and you eliminate those oscillations that makes it hard to read the graph in certain areas

yup, all on same dyno.

Just installed the dynojet software, been playing with it for a little while.

ill repost with std correction. i was trying to get it to show the ambient and humidity, but couldnt get it to work.

Definitely want to run some smoothing on the graphs like you did on the first few graphs. With it set to 0, you get all sorts of dyno resonance/sampling artifacts that add a lot of high frequency noise. If you were actually getting boost oscillation, the frequency would be a lot lower and very pronounced.

And there's no joking around with v2 when it comes to max power. Its main shortcomings (besides diagnostic visibility) was that it did not correct for ambient temps. So that it would run a bit too much boost when temps are high and too little when temps are low. The second shortcoming was compromised drivability since it didn't not reference TPS when it came to boost pressure targeting.

None of these weakness show up on a dyno when IATs are relatively high and throttle is at WOT. But you'll see a big difference between the two tunes on the road in real world driving. v3 will be more consistent, smoother and every bit as quick as v2. Just give it a bit more adaptation time and re-dyno it again. Even in your back to back testing, you can even see it picking up power after every run you did.

Great data! I bet with an FMIC and stage 3, you would be back up to the v2 numbers with all of the extra features of v3.

Actually even the '84 rabbit GTI only made around 90 hp.

good info, yup V2 is a beast honestly. That would explain why Clem was trapping over 116mph w/ his 6MT on just tune and intake.

I really liked my V2, but as Shiv said it did not react to temps well. In the winter, I was barely boosting over 10psi.

93 Octane

Can you tell me what that squiggly line in HP between 5500 and 6500rpm on the V3 graph is?

Just adapaption. You can see the run smoothening out with each successive run. If you did more run (with adequate cooldown, of course), you'd see it get smoother and stronger. Your results are pretty darn good considering how many runs and tunes you put on the dyno in one day.
