Here is the reason BMW drivers get a bad rep.

http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...ing-lot-mayhem

Here is what the guy wrote.

Quote:
Hey guys, looking for a little legal advice today. I'm located in Canada so keep that in mind if the laws regarding this are different here. So here begins the story. I got my car fully restored last summer and now park my car in two spots(width wise) in public parkings lot where possible to prevent all the dings that had accumulated on the car before from people recklessly opening their doors and bashing them into mine. Since I began doing this I kind of assumed there would be someone who would feel the need to tell me what a asshole I am. Up until yesterday I never had a issue, not even a disgruntled look. But yesterday I came out of the gym in the evening to an empty parking lot, the same as how it looked when I parked, except my car was eclipsed by a piece of crap truck parked inches from my car. I was pretty unimpressed to say the least, it was obvious this was done on purpose. Fortunately there was a phone number on the truck for some business purpose so I called it and asked if this was their truck. They said it was and that his brother was driving it so I requested he call him and tell him to come move it and to smarten up with a few extra choice words in between. He said he would call him right away. I waited 5-10 minutes and nobody came. So I climbed in the passenger side and pulled out very carefully. Then I popped the trunk, grabbed my baseball bat and proceeded to send this guys passenger side mirror to the moon. Then I got in my car and left. Although I regretted not doing more at the time I felt this was fair. A few hours later the police come calling. Apparently the guy had taken down my licence plate when he parked because he likely assumed I would do something. The cops wanted to talk to me about what happened and I told them exactly what occurred and that I would meet with them in a few days to show them the picture. I couldn't really get a read on what the cop was thinking regarding this matter but I can say he sounded very interested when I told him I had a photo of how the guy parked and said that he "really needed to see it". What I'm curious about is what sort of legal ramifications am I looking at. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

The guy in the BMW was wrong for bashing his window, but the guy in the truck had a whole parking lot to choose from and instead insisted to park super close to him, therefore, he was asking for trouble. Both guys are pricks, really.

Maybe the problem isn't with BMW owners, but Canadians driving BMWs. They clearly aren't as polite as they would let us believe.

I agree both are pricks. But taking a baseball bat to the guys mirror then feeling guilty for not doing enough damage puts it over the top.

The funny part is he calls the truck a piece of crap but the truck is worth $3-$5k and the 740 is worth about the same.

LMAO only on bimmerforums. I don't care if its a civic to a lambo park in one spot. A car is a car if you want to be OCD about it get one that won't get you in trouble.

My uncles 130K GL benz got keyed the first week he got it. He double parked and the guy knifed his whole side. 15k work of damage... He told me can you believe me it. I told him yes what did you think would happen?

I never double park I hug the shit of of a corner though.

What do you think that purple box is sitting in the front end of that first parking space?

It could also be concluded that the pick-up truck had to park where it did to avoid that box and still get the entire truck length out of the drive path.... assuming a full parking lot, this is a logical explanation...

If you are that worried about dings, leave the car in your garage and take a cab!
Regardless, what each are doing is the physical version of trolling....

I agree with your statement but I don't care if the car is worth $250K or $5 the last thing you want is some asshole denting your car if it is clean and dent free.

I park normally at Walmart everyday and have not gotten a new ding.

If you go out of the way to act like a douche, people will go out of the way to act like a douche back. The key is to not draw extra attention to yourself.

If he already treats his E38 like that, an E90 that's going to be worth at least twice as much as his car will be like a Veyron to him.

I've never double parked but I've definitely parked way out in a lot so lazy people wont park next to me.

I've got this same asshole in my complex that keeps hitting my shit with his door when he gets his kid out, I literally try to park so he wont park next to me in different parts of the lot but somehow he always ends up next to me...

smh
