I am no way local to you as I am in Brooklyn, but if you meet up with me I can code in that injector providing you have the injector numbers written down before you come see me.

Hi everyone. I'm trying to setup INPA/EDIABAS as per the directions in this tutorial, but am running into issues. I can get both battery and ignition lights(black), and when I go through the menu(select chassis, Engine, MSD80, etc.) I can see lights on my cable.

However, I noticed some differences between what I'm seeing and the video Vasil posted to Youtube. First, my MSD80 is at least partially in English. Instead of "Systemdiagnosen", I see "System Diagnostics". The next step("Injektormengenabgleich") is still in German. Selecting that then produces the error,

"SYS-0010: INITIALIZATION ERROR
API job error or no such result !
Continue script processing?"

I've read through this entire thread, and selecting "Yes" repeatedly did nothing.
Also, when I try and load MSD80 in Tool32.exe, it shows up as empty(no jobs), with the same SYS-0010 error. If I load some other group files, jobs show up.

If it matters, this is the cable I'm using:

Thanks for any help!

If that cable has a blue circuit board then it's defective.

It does. =\

Can you(or anyone, for that matter) suggest a reasonably priced cable that is known to work with BMW software?

I bought mine off T-mart and I got one that worked...I then started to give people referrals to this vendor and next thing you know they switched up the cable and started sending the cable that you got! Right now the only one I would recommend is the one from Onestopelectronics.

Its pricey but it works for sure...

Look for the link from my thread on coding for the cable I am speaking of..

I bought this one recently and can confirm it worked with the INPA in this thread.

I bought this cable for 25.50 on ebay (free shipping) and it has worked on my 07 E90 and 09 E70. Interestingly enough my E90 is before the 03/2007 production date and the cable still works. The cable came with software (INPA) though I didn’t use that. That being said I had a hell of a time (literally 2 weeks) of dinking around to get INPA to connect to my cars. I tried 5 versions of software, daten files, new file servers, drivers… if you can name it, I tried it. It comes down to getting the right drivers and MAKING SURE the port is selected correctly during install AND on the COM menu in windows. The software on this thread DOES work (so I just saved you half the battle there). I have to find the link for the drivers I used…(at work now and links are at home).

Finding the cable:
Search for exactly this on ebay: “BMW INPA/Ediabas K+D CAN USB Interface BMW OBD2 EOBD DCAN Scanner Brand New”
I bought the one that shows just the OBD2 cable and small disk, 25 bucks, sold by “electradecentre”.
Its coming from china so be patient, but mine only took just over 2 weeks to arrive.
I was able to do my injectors and a bunch of coding on both cars. Once you get it all working, the coding part is pretty easy!

They soldered pin 8 and 7 together to be backwards compatible with K-line cars. I think old E46 or E36. But it was still okay with 2007/2008 3 series because when they switched to DCAN signal, they weren't used.

However, starting in 2009 or so, they introduced the CIC which allows ethernet communication. They put this ethernet signal on pin 8. So when soldered it to pin 7, that threw off the microcontroller in the cable, is what I guess happened. So we keep getting this communication fault right when we tried to read injector.

So once you unsolder it, it will work just fine. This is for the ATMEL ATMega162, green board, white/silver cable, K+DCAN USB cable from china.
Big thanks to Nukezero for this tip. This was my issue as I have a 2009 and green board cable. I also upgraded to win7 ultimate edition from starter edition as I had some issues .....

So I followed everything to the letter but it's not working for me...

Here's where I got to: cable bought, cable drivers installed, software from here taken. Software runs, black dots appear next to Ignition and Battery which indicates that there is some communication going. However, when going to the injector menu (or any other...) it gives me the error screen. On the injector screen it just appears once and after I click it away nothing else appears. No current readings, nothing. Thoughts?

Yup, disabled tune. Same error as nukezero on the previous page, about the initialization error. You think I also got a "bad" cable? I have a 03/2008 car.

cn555ic did you finally find what was the problem with your car that it was not possible to charge the battery from under the hood?

I think i have the same problem. What is more, I can't register new battery with INPA nor with Tool32. I get the same error message as you did.

Can you help me with this? Is IBS to be replaced?

PS
Sorry for me writing here, but i'm new to this forum and i'm not able to PM anyone as yet.

My issue was a loose positive terminal on my battery. I tightened it and so far its been no issues. As for charging from the front, the terminal was loose so therefore no charge to battery...

Today I even tried cutting the connection between pins 7 and 8... Still no dice. I've ordered two cables at this point, and both haven't worked, both were silver cables with white-ish see-through connector housing, exactly the same as the amazon link above visually.

Has anyone ordered this cable? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-INPA-Edi...c79f27&vxp=mtr

I purchased this one because it was the fastest one I could get.

I need to code an injector on my E92 MSD81 , I may start looking for some local guy to code it for me.

I don't want to wait for the cable to arrive and then realize it does not work.

Mine has a slightly different sticker, and it's hard to tell from the pic on yours but mine has a white board inside, while yours looks darker to me at least. Of course who knows if you'll get the exact same cable as in the picture... I think regardless with ebay at least you're stuck having to wait until you get it.

So Ive been having hesitations during my accelerations, so I replaced my spark plugs a few days ago and had a carbon cleaning done last year. The hesitations feel similar to injector problem I use to have(before I replaced all of them). So last night I took a look at the flow rate of the injectors and one of them is at 1.95. Maybe this injector is possibly on the way out? and could be the cause of my hesitations? (injector4) What do you guys think? Sorry for the crappy photo.
