The cabin air filter is definitely something you can DIY. It costs about $40 to get a new filter and simply removing a couple of screws off of a cover to replace the filter...and maybe 30 min at most of your time. No need to pay $140 for that service.

Here is an alternative to replacing the cabin air filter, will also save you 10lbs.

Brake fluid has a cap on it, I don't see any other cars out there that require this many pieces of plastic in the engine bay that have little to no use.

I took them all off the other day to change spark plugs and those pieces didn't make any sense, just a flimsy piece of plastic to make the engine bay look more clean.

Although I will admit that if you don't like the look of exposed hoses and you pop your hood often then I would probably just replace the cabin air filter you already have and keep all the plastic there.

Since you have a 328i I wouldn't be super worried about spark plugs, for us turbo people we have to replace every 30k miles. If you start misfiring I would replace all plugs, then if you still misfire grab a code reader and find out which cylinder it is and replace that coilpack. Fairly easy work to do yourself.

Have you looked at your maintenance schedule?

You should have a "Warranty/Maintenance manual. It's in there.

There's an "old school" schedule out there that you can find by googling. It's more than BMW recommends in the manual, but might be better if you plan to keep it a long time.

Doesn't BMW recommend you come in every 5k miles in the manual? Looking online at maintenance schedules I see something every 5/10k miles.
