In the United States Blinder is at the bottom of the performance scale. There are many Lidar guns that it can't jam.

Depending of exact car model this is possible to install to be invisible, even some people are installing additional mechanism to move that to visible/invisible spot, depending of law in your state you may want to extend installation.

Everything else is useless, you are getting alarm too late, he already have your speed.

As someone else said : waze is great thing, I am using both blinder and waze and even power off blinder when I see them on waze and speed is lowered under allowed limit because having detector/blinder doesn't mean that you should call attention.

If you decide to get blinder fell free to ask about optimal installation details, pictures, etc ...

Unfortunately, what Upstatedoc says is true. http://www.raletc.com/2014/09/2014-r...shootout-live/

The reason Blinder is not releasing updates to jam these LIDAR guns is because the owner of Blinder who lives in Denmark is making more money from licensure agreements for blinder's patents than from sales of Blinder products.

for highway go valentine1, for city go passportxi which comes preloaded with traffic camera warnings, or for both and most expensive you could get a passport redline and connect it with your phone and get updates when other people using the app report a speed trap.

FYI that app (Escort Live) doesn't just work w/ the Redline, it works with lots of Escort and Bel detectors.

I'm on the fence between 8500 and 9500.. I've found the 8500 for low-mid $100's but 9500 cheapest i found was like $250-$300.. Is there that much of a difference in the two? Doing a side by side comparison on their site doesn't show much of one... The stored GPS feature is cool though, dont think the 8500 has that..

Get an escort smart radar. The 8500 x50, 9500 xi and smart radar all have the same hardware. With smart radar you get a free year of live that provides GPS lockout. Its not automatic but you just tap your screen to lockout. I had one and loved it.

Id personally get the V1 because ive used the 9500 xi, the GPS feature is great and software updates are awesome it gives off less false alarms then the v1 and can memorize if i recall places that give K-Band like publix but if you want pure detection i ended up with the v1?

I Currently own the v1. If you get a used V1 you can send it in for 100$ and upgrade it. Or keep it until they have a feature you like then upgrade. THE BIGGEST reason i have a V1 is the bloody arrows. I like knowing if they're behind or in front of me.

Ill tell you my story now. I was cruising in Orlando Florida on i4 on a foggy night and no one to be seen. Cruisin 85 in a 70 and the detector goes off 1 arrow front and 1 arrow rear. I couldnt see crap so i didnt risk it. Slowed it to 70 and it beeped for about 2 miles to the next entrance ramp and low and behold FHP chilling on the right and I took it down to 65 and a friggen nother FHP was following me in the fog. So that night paid for itself. Both arrows pointed to the rear as i had one parked behind and following me.

Like i said the upgradability is why V1s are always relevant. Ill be getting the bluetooth dongle for apps, GPS and stealth assist when I feel i need more. If you want a full packaged deal get the 9500. If you can live with a few false alarms and training yourself to determine the truth then get the v1. I cant vouch for the latest v1 as I am a few upgrades behind but even my current version serves me well.

Yeah I do like those arrows as well, that's a really cool feature.. Is the V1 the only radar with that option? I like the display of the 9500ix being bright blue and it looks nice too.. The V1 from what I've read does a stellar job, just doesn't have the fashion appeal of the escort I guess haha..

I can tell you that the difference between the top of the line radar detectors and the mid range ones are not great in performance difference. It is all marketing and radar nuts spouting crap..

I have a 600 dollar radar detector and its about the same as any detector on the m4 platform

Escort live will tell you far away the cop is. So if its not in front of you its behind you. There you go.. you have arrows

Thanks for that info!

Does the Escort Live only work on the 9500? Looks like a cool feature, although from what I can tell its $20/mo.???

It works on various devices. It's $20 for a year or $50 for 3 years (I think). I purchased my Escort Passport through Escort's website and I got a free year of Live. I don't know if you get that if you purchase from all vendors.

Arrows are just marketing.. Its not like you are going to speed with a freaking KA band going off anyway so it makes no difference. Better to go with gps lock out than getting hit with false all the time

Which radar detector are you using? Anyone using an Escort RedLine? Yah or nay? V1 instead? Or Escort 9500ix/Max is better? ...go:
