Replacing MASK unit with MASK-2
I have a pre-LCI E-90 and I want to replace the MASK with navigation head-unit with MASK-2 with navigation head-unit to get 2D maps. I wondering if just a simple swap out followed by coding and programming? Do I need to change any harnesses etc... Does anybody have any instructions etc?

do u have navigation on MASK?
A firmware update in may 2005 allows you to use current maps, otherwise they don't work. A vehicle update in 03 2007 brought 2d map view, is this when "MASK 2" came in? I think mines a MASK 2, the car was built 09 2007. I had car updated by BMW this year and subsequently tried later idrive controller, it didn't work all all. So we updated MASK G2 with files from model year 03 2009 and the later controller now has all buttons and scroll working correctly. With this set up the old controller now has NO working features. I have 2014 map disc, it doesn't do 3d view, doesn't do 7 digit postcodes, doesn't do speed cameras, which according to sellers on mapping sites all came in for the first time with 2014 maps on the widescreen CCC system After 2010 LCI update, MASK system had CIC type menus (with the small screen) Last edited by BOTUS; 02-08-2014 at 03:21 PM.. |

I have navigation on M-ASK i.e. Business Navigation on 2005 E90. It has the arrows. It has updated map Business 2009 DVD. From what I understand M-ASK 2 has 2D maps similar to the CCC 2D map view. I have read that people have put in M-ASK 2 navigation head units to get the 2D map view.

this is a great deal, you'll end up with a later controller as well.... would need console trim....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-BMW-3-...item3a8b04f6de no doubt somehow something won't work and it'll need an expert to code it. but at 250 might be worth a go.... otherwise as you'd need to code anything you buy go CCC widescreen (400) if no money or much nicer CIC (600 parts and silly money to fit it, anything from 1000 to 1500 all in) and bear in mind they all go wrong anyway |
