330i Radio Upgrade

Ok,

I have searched the forum but really did not find anything specifically as to what i'm looking for.

Can you upgrade your radio from a 330i to like a 2008 or 09 328i radio plug N play without any issues?

Please help.

There really wasn't much of a radio upgrade

There really wasn't much of a radio upgrade in any of those years
in the US.
The add on stuff like usb and bluetooth are all on seperate modules and there is no bluetooth streaming till 2011 and
only on cars with Nav/idrive.
and the 330 came with the L7 sound system stock.
which means the sound system is hard to upgrade.
Note upgrading the sound system is not the same as
upgrading the head unit for features.
After 2011 they integrated most of the add on stuff into the
radio.

What is your reason for doing this?

There is and entire stereo sub forum here

My sister has an 08 328 and her head unit has never faded as the issue we have with our head units in the 06, I just wanted to upgrade just the head unit as I do like the Logic 7 sound alot.

There are places that replace the display or

There are places that replace the display or there is a DIY kit.
Its the same part they have used for years in all of them.

Repair resources

If you send it in for repair note the serial number and make
sure they understand you want the same one back as its
programmed for the features in your car.

If you buy a used unit off ebay chances are it will need
to be recoded for your car. Basicly there is no upgrade till
2011 though they did include HD radio at about 08 or 07.

I believe they are a plug, code and play unless you get lucky and find one that came from a car with the same specs.

If you do not have USB or Bluetooth you can upgrade to the Professional deck with built in USB and Bluetooth so that you don't need the trunk TCU/combox. Since you have Logic 7 look for one with the MOST port on the back. ( do have an extra one in my stash if you need it) I did the upgrade in my E87 118I and coded it myself. I went from basic business deck to Professional deck with built in USB and Bluetooth so I can control my IPOD take Bluetooth calls and since I grabbed up a tune to air I can stream Bluetooth music as well.

Thanks for the response David,

That is another thing I forgot to mention, my radio plays but as of now I cannot see anything on the display and Bluetooth stopped working a few days ago.

As for the one you have in your stash, how much would you sell it for ?
