Yeah, to start with I am. Since I've got the time, I figure that I could slide down there. I'm sure eventually I might head to Tischer. I don't know where Russell is from me...

Russel is in Ellicott City/Catonsville on Route 40 (go East), only 10-15 mins from Columbia. I bought my coupe from them and their service is pretty good. Its better than Tischer b/c they always have turnover which leads to people not knowing anything. Plus, they try to nickel and dime you. I only go to Tischer b/c you can get 20% discount on parts/accessories with CCA membership.

Soliciting ideas on logistics, closer to the date...

We've established that parking might be challenging.

An alternative would be to meet at a satellite metro stop and metro it into town.

Any ideas?

I have not parked there myself but I am confident your suggestion is far more attractive/pleasant than street parking and the open lots. But some members of our flock are particularly protective of their rides

I am ok with your suggestion though....

I'm hitting the Auto Show earlier in the afternoon. 1pm or so. Unfortunately I have to go to the theatre in Balt. w/ my wife, so HH is out for me, although I'd really like to start putting faces to the screen names...

Friday is the big day! Anyone up for a scenic drive on Sunday?? I want to break the new baby in!

Regards.

It's funny how we can organize a HUGE metro meet but can't get together for a HH

I'd say we just mention a time and place to meet -- say in front of the Auto Show at whatever time. You can drive into the city and park, take metro, fly in, bike, ride your pet llama, whatever. After the show those that can make it head over to the apres auto show festivities. Easy

As much as I'd love to oogle everyone's cars (and potential hot rental rides) and talk dyno graphs and offsets, sometimes just meeting the people behind the screen names and enjoying a few laughs is enough.

You are all correct, we need to stop fussin' about the details and just wing this.

Pseto has brought up a great parking recommendation which I, myself, will take. As mentioned by sam, I'll leave mode of transport to venue up to each individual member. Although, if anyone would like to set up car pooling arrangement that would be great as well.

Now we can do:

A) a late morning autoshow expedition followed by a late lunch/HH affair at RFD, in which case rendezvous time at the autoshow sometime around 10:45ish and lunch/HH at 13:45ish

or

B) Meet up for the autoshow at noon and have a HH only session at 15:00ish

I vote for option A.

I agree with sixspeed: "As much as I'd love to oogle everyone's cars (and potential hot rental rides) and talk dyno graphs and offsets, sometimes just meeting the people behind the screen names and enjoying a few laughs is enough"

Let's agree on a place to meet at the convention center--say, the ticket sales area--at the time we agree on and look at a few cars, hoist a few brews, and get acquainted. I've met only Al--for our Tour De France prep ride.

That makes it 2 votes for A

I agree, we'll save the ogling, tech talk, tire kicking, cruising etc for a more appropriate venue/time, like our next big meet (to happen in May)

I am likely to go to the event on the earlier side and just hang with my dad as a father/son thing. The show gets very crowded on the weekends, beginning around noon. I hate crowds, so I prefer to go as early as possible.

So I don't think I'll be meeting up with you guys, but I do have some advice -- you might want to meet at the BMW display or something, rather than the ticket area. If you haven't been to the car show in the new convention center before, you may not realize the ticket area can get pretty crowded and there are only a few ways down to the floor (escalators), so those passageways get really crowded, too. It becomes a PITA to go back up there if you are already at the show, and it can take a while to get back down to the main vendor area once you do.

I can't get together until evening. I guess whatever you do I'll need to exchange phone numbers with someone and see if the festivities are still going on when I can get there.
