I have a 2011 320d it has idrive. I'm new to idrive so could do with some help.

The options on the car are below can anyone tell,me what they are and do

Zb3 - media package business
6ab - Control BMW Teleservices
606 - Navigation system business ( I know what this option is)
615 - extended BMW online Information
633 - Bluetooth phone prep + telematic ( I know what this option is)
698 - area code 2 for dvd
6aa - BMW teleservices
6cv - combox controller
612 - BMW assist
616 - BMW assist online portal
8sc - Counrty sepific teleservices

On a plus The nav seems very good. How do I tell what version the maps are?

The SOS button seems cool. I had no idea it would call some one the first time I pressed it has a funny conversation with the lady on the other end. Who is it a BMW employe? Emergency services?

I can stream music via my iPhone via bluetooth with is nice

But the Internet seems pants seen the weather bit and the news bit. Can I look at web pages?

What are BMW apps and can I use them

I have a USB in the glovebox but not the armrest, can I use it for mp3 or video?

I tried a DVD in the drive but would not read it. Guess I can't play DVDs then

Ok ill give it a go but these are my answers based on what i remember and think they function is/does

6ab - Control BMW Teleservices - I THINK this is where you could call BMW (or whomever) and ask for some address and they can send it to you i.e. We once thought to stop by Alton Towers when we were close by and i called up TeleServices and asked if they send me the details which they did.

You could also look up for places which shows some images too

615 - extended BMW online Information - Not sure but this could be exporting your profile and storing it on BMWconnecteddrive or RSS feeds/ My apps etc searching for a hotel, place of interest etc

6cv - combox controller - Again i think this is where you could have your phone synced to allow sync of emails, perhaps iPod music including library info??

Go into your Sat Nav and push right and one of the options would be version or similar to that.

I think you have to have the internet option added other than that im not so sure if you could view web pages any other way.

This is where you could have RSS feeds and other apps that i think arent very useful (click the + button and you would see a list). I have them all installed but have not really used them, except for the RSS feeds

I think you can use it to transfer music from the USB to your iDrive. The one under the armrest plays music from the USB.

You should be able to...... I know it can play DVDs on mine.

No offense mate but I think you really need to get familiar with the handbook for your car. If you have no handbook then google is your friend to find and download a copy.

He says he has Business media package, of which nav is a component. If you simply have Business Nav only then you can't do it.

Ok forgive me if this is sounds like a bit of a stupid question, but I've just bought the car and haven't yet figured everything out yet... How can I tell if mine is just business Nav or Business with Media?

As I don't have a business system there may be others better qualified to answer although the fact that your streaming does not work suggests the more basic. There is a link around here somewhere that you should be able to find with a search that allows you to enter your chassis number and get back the original factory-build information. That will tell you but I suspect you're flogging a dead horse.

Another question then... Do all of the iDrive's play DVD's when the car is parked?
Just tried one and it's saying unreadable...?

Only the media variants play video DVDs.
