hpfp recall...

Hey guys, I've been trying to narrow down who's getting recalls, I'm wondering if they're doing it by region. Anyone here get a notice?

Thanks!

I haven't heard anything about a recall. What have you heard?

march 07 production, my chassis # was in the range of the TSB, but when I called my SA she ran my VIN and said there were no outstanding issues against my VIN.

They can only perform the recall work if I receive a letter, which I have not so far.

Same here. Odd because you also hear about the cali people (like shiv) bringing the car in for an oil change, and the just do it.

I'm assuming it's probably a cali thing. Maybe a fuel additive or something is eating the pumps?

I didn't get a recall notice, but there is a service action for certain chassis code ranges (including mine) regardless of region. The full texts of the bulletins have been posted in other threads.

My hpfp is on order; no idea how long it'll take.

That was the case for me. That's what a "service action" is.

Mine was replaced last year. My car was built in March last year. The HP fuel pump was going by 1,200 miles. When I brought it in for an oil change that I was paying for, they checked the DME and it showed codes that told them I was seeing the issue.. They scheduled me two days later and it was fixed.

* I also told them about the long crank times...

It was only out of my hands for a couple hours and never had a problem since.

I haven't received a notice, but my dealership replaced it last week when the car was in for maintenance.

Do you know if you had any codes?

Not that I'm aware of. Definitely no bad blinkies.

However, the service action popped up on the SA's computer as soon as he put in my VIN. There was no code-reading involved unless they miracled them out of the ECU.

daya it automatically tells them once they run your key...if it says you need it when they run your key fob and you don't have a letter it's not like they aren't going to do it...i have never heard of needing a letter to verify your vin's info according to bmw..if your key fob pulls up a recall in there comp you get the work done..if not then you don't need it.. simple as that...you do not NEED a letter..but bmw is sending them out...chances are if you haven't gotten one your not gonna..but this hurts people who just bought there car from a private party as a lot of times those letter go only to the old owner and not the new owner since bmw doesn't have you address and such..so if you bought one used from a private party i would make sure bmw knows all your info through the dealer and i would call bmwna to let them know!!!!

*update*

I brought my car in for its 1-year oil change and sure enough they read my keyfob and I am part of the recall even though I did not get a letter.

Hopefully this is a updated pump and there won't be any failures, my existing one was working just fine
