I've been reading this as well, can anyone comment or confirm that we are able to get a rental until parts come in, this seems like its obviously a major safety concern.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have an update on when the parts will arrive. Both my 328xi and 335i are affected. I called back in June and they were not available.

Any news?

I am still waiting. No update after the original recall letter was sent. IIRC, it is a voluntary recall. Do you sense that there is a strategy here that if the delay is long enough, the cars in the recall will be sold and lost to follow-up?

I think it's just the huge numbers involved. I had to wait for a full year for the parts to become available for my pickup truck but I finally got it fixed a month ago. Still waiting along with everyone else for my E90

Early 2017 is what someone at BMW USA told me just a few weeks ago. I assume it's the same here in Canada.

I feel really comfortable knowing there is metal shit in my airbag that can kill me if it pops, while they get ready to do this work in the year 2020. Thanks Takata and BMW !

Yup... called and still no airbags available for the E9x. BMW seems to be dropping the ball on this compared to Honda who already has airbags available for every affected model.

I feel we either should get a rental in the in the meantime until we get airbag replacements or atleast some compensation...like its our lives they re playing with. My 02 accord got the airbag recall done like 4 months after the announcement.

Bmw called me the other week and said they would be available this fall. How is Honda beating BMW's deployment? What a joke.

Honda probably has about 10 times the amount of cars on the road. Not really hard to figure that out.

Same here...meanwhile Honda already has airbag inflators available for every single model that has been affected by this recall. BMW should be embarrassed with how they have been handling this recall.

BMW Canada says its mainly affected in countries with high heat/humidity. Although, with the summer we just had...I'd say we're affected as well. Like whose responsible if (god forbid) we get into an accident and the airbag doesnt function as it should. They at least should offer something to make up for it (not looking for free shit, I'd much rather have my airbag fixed)

I never got a letter, but i called in last year to check and they said that it does not apply to my VIN. After that, a good deal showed up for a sport steering wheel and airbag, and i grabbed it. Would BMW Canada still cover it? Anyone have an idea?

Doubt it. If the recall doesn't cover the factory airbag, and the airbag YOU installed is a Takata, they likely have no obligation to replace the part you put in your car with a new one.
