"Your Vehicle Is At The Port Awaiting a Shipping Vessel (STILL ???)

...that is the message I heard this morning when I called the 800 number and it has been for the past SEVEN DAYS.

It has been there since 1/17. I assumed that it would be shipped on the Otello which left today. I am getting a bit upset.

My CA is useless.

Does anyone here know...
How long after it is actually on the ship does the status change ? Also when does does it usually show up on the W-W Logistics Website?

Here are the details:

335i Coupe
Space Gray
Coral Red
Brushed Aluminum
Premium
Steptronic (After 20 years of owning only non-auto cars)
Nav
Sports
Satt
Heated Seats

The plant code in my VIN is a "P" is the Regensburg ?

I hope all of who had an early January production receive your babies quickly and safely : )

You may already be on a boat. You need to get your CA to find out for you to be sure.

As I Said...

My CA is a useless twit...

and he works for one of BMW's OWN dealerships (BMW MANHATTAN)

I have found out more on my own.

Is there NO ONE on this board with any RECENT advice or experience to share ?

What can you do? The CA can't do anything, we definitely can't do anything. All you have to do is wait.

My car sat at the dock "waiting for a shipping vessel" for 6 1/2 weeks! I called everybody and their mother and could not get an answer as to why. Nothing anybody could do is what I'm pretty much saying.

As far as WWL and 800# message changing, both took about 3 days AFTER the boat had left port. My CA knew about 3 days before it was put on a boat when it was leaving port. With that info I was able to figure out what ship it was going to be on.

Best of luck and when the car gets there it will all be worth while!

The CA should be able to do something If not, CAs have managers. Escalate to the SM or GM.
Or, call the BMW 800# and punch through to customer relations.

At Last...

...someone with some sort of (recent) experience.

My last 2 cars got here (NYC) so quickly... I guess I was lucky.

I have to arrange a vacation around delivery of this car, thats another reason I am so anxious.

It would be great to have it for a 1500 mile car trip... No ?

IT'S On the OTELLO !

The OTELLO left Bremerhaven on 1/24/08

It is scheduled to arrive in NY on 2/7/08 !!!

(For some reason neither BMW USA or my CA could provide me with specific information... I had to find out for myself by entering my VIN on the W-W website.

Finally...

I am very happy indeed !

I've got the same problem, but I don't know if it's updated info or not. Mine reached port for exit on the same day (1/17) as yours. Hope mine's on the Othello too!

What's the WW website? I have an oc.bmwusa.com account, but the info on the order tracking there is at least a week behind from what I've heard.

Nevermind.. I found the "WW" website. But I entered the VIN in the Cargo ID: field under Auto & it says "no tracking information is available for the cargo id you entered."

AAGHH. I'm going nuts waiting for this car. If it hasn't even been booked on a ship yet, I'm going to lose it. My CA is clueless/useless as well.

WW Website

It takes about 2 days after they receive the car for the info shows up.

By that time, the 800 number should list you as "in transit"

I'm at the dock too, but my car is destined for the West Coast. It's been there since the end of last week.

If you go here, you can see the latest ship schedules: http://www.dbh.de/index.php?id=151&L=0

If WWL is the carrier, you can go here to see if you car is on one of their ships: http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp. The "Tarifa" thread has more detailed info.

I don't know how to track ships on the NYK line.

I've been calling the 800 number twice a day too. It seems like we can sit on the dock for days or weeks. Torture!

My strategy is to call the 800 number until they say it is "En Route", then look up the schedule and then check my VIN on vessels departing a day or two before the 800 number showed "En Route". The last step will work if the vessels are handled by WWL. If I end up on a NYK vessel, I'm going to try to figure out how to confirm I'm on that vessel and then track it's progress.

Sometimes I try to beat the 800 number by checking shipping schedules and then checking my VIN against ships leaving at the scheduled time. But getting the "no tracking info" message over and over again gets frustrating.

Good luck guys.

Once your car is loaded on a vessel, which U.S. port will your ship go to from Bremerhaven?

Think mine will come to Charleston which it looks like there are a lot of Charleston ships that have fewer stops than west coast...somewhere I read a post that said NYK are the ships used for west coast; but I'm not positive about that, just read that but mine has now been 2 wks at dock; hope it loads today

My 335 coupe in on the Othello as well. Cars got loaded on the 24 and Othello actually left the port on the 25th early east coast time. Cars are scheduled to arrive on the 7th. Othello was at Bruges port yesterday loading and unloading. I work for BMW so I will update if there are any delays. As of now still scheduled for the 7th. I am in DC and my car should be here on the 9th for pickup. Othello is going to NJ port.
