The N54 engine pistons are cast (and not forged).

So if your car was built in 08(not necessarily 08 model), it has forged pistons?

This is surprising news if bmw stripped the M's of the forged pistons as well

I was going to trade my car in for the 1M or 335is and just slap Dinan on one of them. After reading through all 3 pages I just changed my mind. I was more leaning to the 335is for the DCT unless the crankshaft, piston and rods can be changed to forged if they are not already ?

I am just bugging out to the fact of the cost savings to BMW...Damn thats alot of money there saved for the corporation.

Read what I was replying to... I was talking about proof that they are cast. I dont need any information to confirm they are forged.

Although BMW stated it has a forged crank in some specs,

Its never been documented on any 335i spec review that it has forged internals, most likely because they didnt want all the aftermarket tuners in the world thinking it was the next supra, and lets TUNE THE HELL OUTTA THIS THING!

Now we know, lets take advantage of it. Waiting on PROefi system and a single turbo kit

and here is the next quest for knowledge... how much PSI can the n54 take with the proper fueling system/turbo kit?

I mean unfor is running 28psi!!! he is on stock internals. Its awesome to see what this engine can do with a new turbo on it!

as in power from just the engine itself with out turbo(s) in the equasion?

from what I understand every PSI added = more power. Thats why I used boost as the measurement of how much power the engine can handle.

If your talking about the power the stock turbos can produce, then yea the forged pistons wont make or break at those power levels as we have seen.. im only talking about upgraded or single turbos.
