Can holiday cash be used to get selling price below invoice?

If I wanted to buy a car that had an invoice of 42,600 and I wanted to buy it for $500 above invoice do I shoot for $42,600+$500-$1500(holiday cash) for a price of $41,600? Or am I not thinking about it correctly?

Thats what my dealer offered me...I had my car at invoice of $49,415 + $1000 dealer profit...

I offered him 50,415 and he accepted then my out the door price (after taxes, tag title & $500 dealer fee) was 51,980.73 after the 2.5K Holiday cash was factored in

So the selling price of your car was $49,415+1000-2500 = $47,915? What is the $500 dealer fee for?

ok so basically $1500 above invoice then. Still not bad for a 2010.

Yup I faxed every dealership with a Invoice + 1K offer everyone accepted and NO ONE would drop their $500 dealer fee

So I went with the closest dealership and ended up apying 1.5K over grrr

I have never heard a dealer dropping the prep/MACO fees. Just another cut they take.
