Glad the "remember position" setting worked for you. Sorry I can't solve the "random not staying on" problem. I feel like I used to have that problem as well, but I don't have it anymore and I don't know what's different.

IPOD Classic Not Working

OK, this is what I know for sure.

Other than slow scroll, my April 2007 production 335xi with factory installed 6FL worked fine with my IPOD mini and 80 G Video IPODS.

However, the 6FL could not charge my 160 G Classic (with version 1.0.3 firmware) and the IPOD screen stayed on following my 2nd ignition shut off, this ultimately led to a drained IPOD battery. Interestingly, the IPOD screen shut off properly following the 1st ignition shutoff after the IPOD Classic was attached to the 6FL. Also, the only way to shut the screen off was to reboot the IPOD.

I took it to my dealer, and they installed a new 6FL cable which resolved the charging and screen issues. BMW would NOT authorize a Progman update . The scroll is scroll is still very slow for 16,000 songs.

I hope this helps.

Does anyone have a problem of no playlists showing at all? I have a 4g 30GB ipod running on factory installed USB interface/Idrive (6FL)... all artists, albums and songs show (about 3000 songs) but simply no playlists. Any suggestions?

Totally agree....my dealer still refuses to admit that FM switching is a global issue. Time to look for another dealer I think.

Man! I've had my car for about 3 weeks. I have a 120gb ipod classic and a 80gb classic. I've been using the 80gig in my new coupe and everything worked fine.

So I get into the car one day and the ipod won't load. Idrive just says that it's loading the info from the ipod. Nothing happens. I reset and even reformatted the ipod and still nothing.

So I plug the 120gb to the car and it works fine.

WTF??????? I bought the 80gb especially for the car. And now this mess!

I see a few others have had this loading problem. Any fixes yet?

Might not thrill those at BMW Corp who are responsible for quality control and testing of systems like 6FL!!

That could be, but there have also been many good tutorial posts here, some from BMW folks!

Dealer installed adapter puts an iPod docking connector in the glovebox. No USB in either the armrest or the glovebox.

As a brief update...my dealer reflashed my car. No more switching and the random feature remains selected even if I turn the car off. I also have fast scrolling now which I love.

I wouldn't have taken the car in separately for this, but am glad it now works right.

Now that would be an update worth getting. Do you know the progman number? I would imagine that reporting the switching issue would be enough to get them to do it.

that's an iPod issue not 6FL. read the manual for the iPod and you'll probably see a warning for temperatures.

I find my ipod 80gb video freezes more often when I'm doing the "random" song shuffling.

By freezing, I mean I have to physically unplug it from the connector, hold the "Menu" + "middle button/clicker" together for about 10-15 seconds to power off the ipod, turn it back on using the menu button.

Once it's back on, I plug it into the ipod connector in my centre console and it works again.

This whole process is driving me nuts though especially if I'm already on the road and I'm scanning for music.

I don't remember. All I know is that I was at 25.xxx and am now at 27.xxx.

Ok, just got my car updated. All the features people talk about are nice enhancements indeed.

HOWEVER...with the new cable and the V27+ Progman, my iPod DOES NOT show the lightning bolt.

Yes, the car has been updated to V27+ progman.

Yes, the iPod is as up to date as it gets.

Yes, the 6FL cable is the rounded one with the appropriate item number etched on it.

No, there is no lightning bolt.

Thoughts?

Does anyone know if correction #1 above, by itself, resolves slow scrolling problem?
1. No, this did not work for me.

2. Yes.

Jeeez! How can they say that???? Apparently there's a USB dealer installed option, but not for US radios. There was some info on it over the summer here.

6FL Shut Down Time?

Hi all. Have the 6FL, 160gb classic and latest software. How long should it take for the ipod to shut down after ignition is off? Mine seems to stay paused and on the "connected, may disconnect" screen for ever. Any help much appreciated.
