Clutch slipping at 20k

So my clutch slipped for the first time tonight. 3rd gear pull, about 3.5k rpms and the rpms sped up without me feeling the pull and no dtc light.

I'm cattless, fmic, jb4 with e85 wires.

I have never dynoed so I'm not sure the power numbers but I can't imagine that I'm overpowering the clutch but at the same time I can't imaging I have gone through my first clutch already.

Anyone else having this issue? Was it your clutch needing replacement? Was the stock clutch just weak?

I only slip when I launch. This was after tons of clutch slipping launches at the track

I'm not surprised.

You can milk the clutch by avoiding the low end torque powerband and only going heavy throttle in high RPM.

I personally had to reduce my boost power at about 24,000 miles. It's not my driving habits either. My other car has over 130K on stock clutch.

This car simply can't hold the big torque down load once it gets some mileage on it and you start adding good power.

Slipped once on the dyno on map 7 down low, went back to map 2 and has been fine since then. Like Jeff said it's the torque down low Does spec make a clutch specific to the N55 yet ???

Yes. They make one for 2011 and 2012.

It's the same clutch as the N54 uses and the same flywheel that the 2/2009+ vehicles use.

Are you still under warranty/maintenance? Pretty sure clutches are covered no?

I thought the manuals were pretty heavy duty. Have you driven your car pretty hard since it was new?

Ive been tuned since about 6K miles. Been running E85 for about a year. Within the last 2 months i have gone cattless and FMIC.

Traction has always been the issue in 1st, and since cattless and FMIC now 2nd gear, not the clutch. Last night was the first cool night since i have had all the mods and E85.

It only happened in 3rd, in 1st and 2nd the tires just break loose.

In the process of buying a house right now so buying a new clutch is not really where i want my money going. I think i might just run map 2 and lay off the E85 to help extend the life of the clutch.
