N55 JB Stage 1 Question...
Hey guys,
So, I finally got the USB cable to make some adjustments to the stage 1. Now, my understanding was that it came preset with something along the lines of 2.5 or 2.75 boost over stock. However, when I connected mine, the figure was 3.5 . Now, I did take it up to 4.25 just to see what it feels like. Anyone have any info as to why it may have been 3.5? Not complaining because the car feels great - just curious. Any info appreciated. |

Thanks for the reply. I guess because I read so many other threads about people bumping the boost up with the stage 1 that I figured it would be ok. In fact, I think I read that some people were running +5 or 6 with Stage 1 without incident (correct octane of course). I know every situation is different, but should I bump it back down to 3.5? I always run 93. I haven't taken the car out yet with the +4.25 setting yet, but if there might be issues I'll take it back down to 3.5. Any thoughts?

Did you guys feel a nice bump in performance going from 3.5lbs to a higher setting? I just ordered my USB cable to do that since the weather is getting colder and I run 93 octane. Also can you quickly explain how to do it, do I hook it up to the laptop while chip is on?

I was able to drive the car a good bit today with the +4.25 setting. It is definitely more noticeable than 3.5, especially with torque. I got on it pretty hard with no CEL or limp mode. You can find directions for hooking it up here:

Thanks OP but I don't see an option for USB? What can you do with the USB other than change the boost?
Also, my car just got updated to the newest DME software. Is there anything to worry about installing this? |

You just order the USB cable separately. One end to your laptop, the other to the tune. Not sure about what other settings can be tweaked, if any. From what I read, the tune should be fine with the newest DME update, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, I pushed it up to 4.5 last night (cold weather) and I was able to spin the tires hard in 1st gear which I wasn't really able to do at 3.5 psi. Def feels more aggressive
