Fed up.. Someone help!
Ok, so when I bought my 92 325i (M50 motor) It would start and run like shit, but when I stepped on the accelerator, it would cut off. The guy I bought it from tried to tell me the mass airflow sensor was shot. In an attempt to prove him wrong, I changed the fuel filter. After I did that, the car would turn over, incessantly, but not start. I relapced the fuel pump and the fuse (it was good, but I put another one in for good measure) and it still turns over but will not start. I had someone tell me it was the fuel pump relay, so I ordered a new one. Is there anything ELSE it could be? I just want to make sure all of my bases are covered. I hate not being able to drive my beautiful baby! (With an M50, she deserves to be driven, not sleeping in my driveway!)

Sending this to a few friends of mine who might be able to help you find the problem.

I'm in Richmond.. so just wanted to post up so you could contact me if you ever need a hand. I'm no BMW expert (yet) so this issue isn't exactly my thing... but I've done plenty of wrenching.

Had a similar issue with my 325is (M50B25TU) it ended up being the ECU. A common problem with the E36s is that rain channels get clogged up and can flood the compartment where the ECU is housed.
It may not be in your case, but what I did to finally figure it out was to swap ECUs with my friend's 325is and it fired right up. Not very time intensive and just another thing to check. Takes about 5 minutes to pull out the box.
