Hi,

Looks like my first post is going to have to be a call for help...

...just finished washing the car and when I have gone to return both front seats from tilted to the normal upright position they are completely stuck!

Only had the car a couple of weeks so this is the first time I have tried to get into the back 2seats...

What can I do? Don't want to pull any harder on the lever on top of the seat as it feels as though it is at the end of any movement range already! Feels like the cable has stretched a little too far...anybody know how to get to the cable/remove the seat back?

I have a warranty for this sort of thing, but obviously I can't drive the car to the garage...

Help.

Pull harder, and you do not need to operate the tilt lever on top to return them either.

Just grab the thing and wrench it back - they have a strong detent to stop them flipping back up

Ah, now that was a quick response, gotta love BMW forums!

Bloomin' ell, must be a strong detent! I'll man up and go and give it another firm shove...just doesn't feel right. My old E46 required a firm hand to put the seats back into place but this is something else!!

Sorted. Kind of.

Drivers seat was just a case of needing a really good shove. After that It's now getting easier with every go.

Passenger side was tricky. Still quite jammed, must be some dirt trapped in the mechanism somewhere? Needs excessive force every time...also makes lovely grating sound. I'll wait till the weather warms up and pull it apart

If you have a warranty and something doesn't feel right then take it to the stealer. If you attempt a DIY and bugger it even more you won't have a leg to stand on.

or might not have a seat to sit on, in this case?

this is a fairly common problem let the dealer fix it
