Trying to get Dr. Phuonger up to PNW for walnut cleaning

So, after meeting up with Dr. Phuonger and the Speed Element guys @ SEMA, he said he'd be open to setting up a weekend to come up in the next couple of months to do some walnut intake valves cleaning if there is enough interest.

I wanted to see if there would be enough people, 4-6 cars in total that would be interested. I was thinking 2-3 cars on a Saturday and 2-3 cars on a Sunday, maybe even a car on a Friday night is doable if he flies up here early enough.

Let me know

Everytime I think of Walnut blasting, I think of some sort of drink from Baskin Robbins...

Have you considered taking it to BMW Bellevue? There was a guy that posted his review of his Walnut Blasting done in August. That might be a little more convenient than flying Dr. Phuonger out here, unless you really really want him here. haha

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=walnut -Thread for reference.

You might have seen it, but just letting you know just in case.

atown88 - thanks for sharing. I guess I'll be calling to see if they still offer the discounted rate.

BMW Bellevue

I just got the service today, cost $369.00 plus tax. Took 3.5 hours to complete.

This dealer has terrible ratings on Yelp, Google etc. But my experience was nothing but great.

Car is smoother and more responsive.

The total cost of getting this done will be $350 which includes a set of intake manifold gaskets since we're removing it.

it's more of an excuse for me to come up and visit some friends in PNW while meeting some more BMW community members.

3 years we took a trip up to Vancouver - the Vancouver welcomes LTBMW to Canada meet. =D

I may be in depending on when it is, I'm coming into my busiest time of year at work. My car has 38k on it, so I'm assuming it could probably use the cleaning. Oh, my car is a 135i/N54, shouldn't be a problem, should it?

Not familiar with "Dr. Phuonger", how does he clean them? Does he use the BMW cleaning system/kit (if there is such a thing)?

Dr. Phuonger is well known in the California boards for the work he does on BMWs along side Speed Element (www.speedelement.com) as well as his own ride...Blurple. Check out this thread for his latest build:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=736410

When I was talking to him in Las Vegas, he mentioned that he has friends with a shop in the Seattle area that be more than happy to host a meet as well as offer up their facility for the actual cleaning.

I am not impress with dealer walnut blasting, the after pictures seems indicate plenty of carbon left.
