Do you need to get a new nob and stuff for this? Or do you just swap the two levers?

You can just swap out the two levers. The overall height may be higher, but your throws will still be shorter.

You can get a new knob if you wish, but its not required.

It's pretty easy if you have some mechanical knowledge.

Here's a link for the diy for the install (its says 335i but the install is exactly the same as the 328i).

I found this method to be a lot easier since you don't need to jack up the car.

wow nice, if i wasn't looking for a new spoiler and didn't have to get new tires for the winter setup... i'd take this in a heartbeat. i just know my GF would kill me if I got ANOTHER mod while saving up for others.

Install on this is a breeze. This mod done w/ the cdv mod is the best combo under $100, IMO.

I am hearing the CDV isn't good to do since it could easily cause you to do more damge to the clutch if not properly handled. No one is perfect at shifting each time, no one. Once in a whiel a person does slip.

well thats what the cdv does, it slows down the engagement of the clutch, inducing slip. So the taking out the CDV will actually increase the life of the clutch, since you're reducing slip.

But there is a downside to taking out the CDV. From what I've read, the CDV allows BMW to use weaker driveline components (compared to what it should have based on the vehicles power). No matter how fast you release your foot off the clutch, the CDV is always delaying the release, putting less stress on the driveline. Just don't be stupid and release your clutch at 5k RPMs all the time and you'll be fine.

That was kinda off topic..

The short shift lever is still available!
