Do you need the rest of the part numbers for hoses etc?

im not sure what the "AF" part is but if its for an N52B30, than thats right!

also, I see that you did the manifold swap on a 328i instead of a 325i; did you run into the same sorta complications a jfisher that worked with gavin?

Yup! it adapted with the ECU. I'm running a Stage 1 328i tune with a 3 stage manifold now. Just waiting for them to launch the 328i Stage 2 tune!!! The car runs smooth like before but power is delivered to the ground like crazy. It puts you in your seat!
But for you since you have a 325i, AA has developed a stage 2 tune just for you guys that have a 3 stage manifold as well!

very cool! thanks for the heads up; I wanted to pull the trigger and get the tune from AA before but I didn't know if I wanted to get a PE first. But since you say it will adapt, I think i'm game now hahaha I need to find a rep for a pricing on this stage 2 tune^_^

do you know the difference between the 2 stages?

Not too sure about the 325 tune but i think stage 1 was just a normal tune and stage 2 is a new one for the 325 with the 3 stage manifold. More gains than stage 1 aa tune with 3 stage manifold

But for you, i would definitely do the manifold conversion first before the tune especially for stage 2. My situation was just a little messed

Im gonna reflash as soon as the 328 stage 2 comes out.

hehe yeah I actually have been running the manifold in my car for the past 6-7k miles without a tune hehe just been waiting and saving. Just checked out the official AA thread and saw what the simon tool was exactly haha sounds awesome! How much were you able to pick up that little device?

I don't plan on bringing my car to the dealership anymore (i do most of my maintenance myself with my dad) So I don't think i need to worry about having to get a reflash. I've actually never heard about the dealership wiping out an ECU tune before till i cam on these forums haha but do you use it often to switch between tunes?

Just wanna what the best option for me hehe I can bring my car to jlevi or another authorized shop or if i should just buy this tool

You're lucky to have lots of flash stations there. where as i do not. I only have one place who does it in my city and they charge outrageous prices, so i got the simon tool. It also benefits me since i'm still under warranty.

I got the tool cuz if i wanted to reflash, my local dealer charges labor just for reflashing, which would eventually end up being the price of a simon tool lol. And its also nice because if they have an update for it, i don't have to get charged for bs labor too!
I paid $800 for a tune and tool. So you save $50 since they have intro pricing. And i was like why not since i was happy with their products? I love saving money lol

haha thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely look into getting the simon tool if the price difference in going to a flash station around here isnt dramatically different!

space monkey, how does the 325 feel with the 3 stage manifold? im dying to get some more power from my 325 awd. are you able to tell the difference? and hows the gas mileage? Also what extra parts did you need since you did it for the 325? im looking to put this all together for next month and then buy the aa stage 2 shortly after.

Not sure if you question was answered. The Stage 2 tune for the 325 supposed to yeild about 10-15hp more (based off of AA findings but not 100%) ontop of stage 1. This is done via "adjusting" the VANOS and changing the way the intake/and exhast valves operate. This is the true spot were NA tuners needed to look at.

for the most part, the swap of the manifold should be fine. You should always get pictures when you buy them used. You need to get a manifold that as 2 holed that you connect a tube to. Do not get the one that just has 1 input port for the vent hose.

The labor rate here is generally around $100/hr, as high as $125 at the dealer. BMW TIS lists the work at 3.5 hours. I paid $110/hr, and after a few parts and taxes, came in right around $400. Still far less than getting all the parts new, and the tech that did the work knows the E90 N52 extremely well. But yeah, $400 still isn't cheap. Really cannot wait until this urge to modify my car passes over.

I believe the forum memeber jfisher160 bought his manifold from a 530i. Might want to talk to him about it since i remember reading that they had to modify something cuz the manifold is slightly different

The person in that link has a 328i and the OP has a 325i. The manifolds on the 530i and 330i are the same. I dont see him having to make any special parts.

No that is not true.

The older 5 series had only one vent hose return port on the manifold. If you get this kind of manifold, you will definately have to modify your vent hose somehow make it from a 2 part hose into a 1 part hose.

The switch on the 5 series was made in 10/2005 to the manifold with 2 vent hose intake ports. I know this because my manifold came from a 2006 530 which had the 2 ports (direct bolt on)

True, I was assuming he was searching based on the 10/05 production date.
