CCTV camera help
Hi guys - not sure if we have any tech/cctv camera gurus on here but worth a shot.
I'm not looking for anything too special just more of a deterrent really and I've come across the below 2 cameras which seem reasonable I'm just not sure how I'd record off them? One is wifi and the other IP - can I simply record wirelessly onto a laptop external hd? Any advise would be appreciated Thanks http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sentient-p...v-camera-a21rq http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/swann-720p...t-camera-a47ql |

You'd be better off getting a camera and recorder (DVR)
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sentient-e...1-camera-a16nl or http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sentient-e...-cameras-a17nl You can then add cameras to it if you need. My system at home just sits there and records any movement in pre-set areas. You can then save stuff onto a memory stick if you need for the police or whatever. Having a camera sat there not recording onto anything is a bit pointless IMO. If all you want is a deterrent, get a dummy camera - but I would imagine if you are wanting a deterrent, then you're sufficiently concerned about it to warrant a proper system. |

I thought you said it was mainly a deterrent?
What are you hoping to capture and watch on it on it that requires 1080 resolution? |
