Supercharged applications tend to have a more linear power curve than turbocharged, so that statement doesn't surprise me in the least.

What kills me is how long it took for a well known shop to actually tackle forced induction on the N51/52. This topic has been beaten to death for years and FINALLY it's making real progress. 100whp is a hell of a number to be shooting for but if it's really capable of that then I'm glad you guys finally have something to ease your power concerns. Be interesting to see someone with Xi get one of these.

Personally, despite this news, I still don't regret my decision to go to the N54. "N54 not as smooth...", At FBO power on the stock snails, I agree 100%. But I f@#$ing LOVE how brutal the acceleration is even with Xi.

Congrats to all of you guys. This is a huge step forward for the N/A community.

Of course the power is intoxicating.....what are downsides? I know that's a "dumb" question, but specifically will a SC kill reliability of this pretty durable NA engine?

Other than that, I love the idea--more power to ya.

As a former N52 owner I'd be a bit wary about using forced induction on a engine that has a aluminum block.
The m54 handles it fine to CRAZY levels

When freaking 1.8L mitsubishi economy 4cyl poo motors can make 350whp easily

People, seriously, stop worrying about block strength ffs

And heck, the pistons are similar to the n54 even -_-

Wish I didn't do the 3IM and tune now as I got new disa valves which pushed me to @$2k. just looking at pic's, I'd assume this comes with it's own intake so that kinda negates my 3 stage intake+tune upgrade. Hopefully $4995 gets all the parts needed and whatever tune. I still might just do it.

Wow, pretty awesome for you N52 guys! I totally feel you on trying to milk power out of an NA BMW motor-did it on my E36. But this will be a great option for you guys!

For those concerned about high mileage, get a compression/leak down test. That will tell the true story about the health of your motor and whether or not it can take FI. It should show a high number and be even across all cylinders (5 to MAYBE 10 psi difference is acceptable).

Enjoy!

this kit uses stock intake manifold, so wont be necessary swap to 3 stage. probably make the similar power between the two manifolds.

Woot. If this is a reliable option I could see myself considering it after some early adopter reviews.

Hey guys

The Stage 3 DISA intake manifold is 100% compatible with our supercharger system. We are actually running one currently in our 128i development vehicle. There is very little advantage to running them with our supercharger kit but if you already have one there are no issues.

As far as the N51/N52 motors ability to handle boost, they are very solid. We have been running 10 PSI in our development 330i for some time now. This is more boost than we will run in the production kits but we wanted to see how it could handle several PSI more than production during thousands of miles of testing and it has done very well. The same goes for the transmissions in these cars. We will make sure the production kit stays well within the limits of the vehicles hardware and that the vehicles that run our kits are very reliable as we have done for many years.

If you are not familiar with us spend some time and look over our website, this website or online and you will see this in not our first rodeo when it comes to doing FI on BMW

Thanks for the update! Any chance of a group buy? Also, would this be compatible with the SMG transmission that were available on a few 330i N52 and 530i N52?

So is the 100hp gain plausible with the lower boost output, or will we still see the same gains with the boost level you're planning on releasing it with?
