I bought my '08 335i CPO in September of 2012 and so far it has been in the shop 1 day for every 7 days of ownership. Granted the issues have been minor (trunk seal, passenger window not working, valve cover gasket, fog lights). I knew when I bought this car that there would be more maintenance costs than say a Japanese car. That's why I bought the Bentley manual and located a reputable indie shop

Heard some had high oil usage new. Mine had a JB4 on it since 1500 miles & I used 1/2 quart to 7500 & another 1/3 in the second 7500.

No issues here, 30k+ miles, over 200+ launches and I go to the track at least 2-3 times a month.
Car was moded before break in and tuned right after break in at 3400 miles, retuned at 17k, and will be retuned again for more power before the end of this month I am not a cruise mo dee driver either. I drive it as it should be driven |

Interesting. I had non run flats on my car before I upgraded my suspension and the rear end used to skitter around all over the place during bumpy cornering.

Well that is good to know. Did you see any difference comparing just the RFTs and the Go-flats in that regard? |

Unfortunately, by the time I'd purchased my car, the previous owner had already switched out the rear's with non-run flats. The run flats were still on the front wheels though, and when I upgraded my tires and wheels, there was definitely a marked improvement in overall handling, but things really changed when I got my coilovers

I've got an 07 e92 6mt with 98k and the only issues have been the spark plugs went out on me at 97k. Had even ordered them and the special socket to replace; got the socket in the day the #3 plug failed. Replaiced them all and no problems since. Also have Hankook ventus v12 tires, so no RFT's :-D

The only issues my car has seen, knock on wood, is the HPFP at 40K. BMW has stepped up on that issue regardless of the fact if they've fixed it or not. Direct injection is become more common(see what I did there, huh?) place on gasoline engines and I expect some issues. My car will see a ton of the dragstrip and some road course this year. I expect the clutch to fail(DR or slicks will be used with e85), hell I won't even be mad if I roast a set of turbos. If the motor yard sales, I'll be pissed but I don't see that happening unless something crazy happens. Want an unreliable car? B5 S4s, DSMs, 300ZX twin turbos, anything rotary powered those are your offenders. Those cars aren't in the same realm of the technology as our cars and the shit just breaks with normal use. New cars are way more solid and reliable than the performance cars of yesteryear, not to mention it's a lot easier to pin point problems. The problem is your average BMW/e90 owner isn't exactly the most patient and willing to dig into their cars. Labor rate at dealerships is stupid. Not to mention the internet is harsh place.

08 E90 335i here...
54k miles and I've replaced:
Only advice to save out of warranty is to make sure to learn somewhat to do things yourself. As a side note, I've been lucky with BMW USA comping parts and labor for me out of warranty so far. |

I've had zero problems. I only have about 7000 miles on mine though.
I've changed oil twice (just yesterday was the 2nd time), and I honestly don't like the runflat tires, but the car itself has been nothing but stellar!
