M5 M6 LCI Style Grill for E92
I cant stress enough that these are in an early stage of development. I put enough time in it to find out if there were enough grill slats to make the spacing correct and yes there are. the issue is does it look good on the e9x platform or not. right now i have one pic but i will be adding more later on. If i decide i like it, i may go ahead and make a finished set out of some ebay grills. Its only a matter of time before these are actually produced. So on to the pic(s).

Wow nice! What did you do just cut off some of the slats? I was going to say where do you work that you can just mock that up then I realized thats probably just the stock with cut slats.
Not sure I love it but great work nonetheless, would like to get a shot from directly in front to put it side-to-side to the other pics |

I don't know what to make of it, would love to see it on a black car. I think it would look very different contrast wise.
EDIT: Heres a shitty photoshop I did: |

i think the e9x platform isnt sharp/rectangular enough (especially around the headlights and bumpers) to pull it off. looks weird to me, like slats were broken off. maybe if the e9x was also bigger... on a smaller car, too many "gaps" or spaces look aesthetically awkward.

id prefer black as well... this was just a rough base prototype look at what it would look like on an E92. I honestly think the e90 would pull it off better. If i do decide to actually get these grills made they will have more angle around the top area like the original ones. its going to take me a few days of looking at them to decide if i like them

For the people with innate comment reflexes, such as, "why are you reviving an old thread?" My response to you is, "why not?!"
The OP MrRager was original/creative enough for creating this thread 2 years ago. I stumbled upon it by chance this morning when I was online searching for those double-space design kidney grills for E92. Since I didn't see any more pics added by the OP, I created my own by quick Photoshop-ing. I only spent few minutes on them, that's why they didn't come out perfect. So here are my takes on those grills on E92. The top one is an E92 M3 with non-LCI front, and the bottom is an E92 with LCI front. The difference between the two, when it comes to the kidney grills, is that the non-LCI has 14 grills, where as the LCI has 13 -- as a result, the LCI grills will be odd in number (literally,) because you can't get complete set of pairs. With LCI you will end up with 4 doubles and 1 single, where as with non-LCI you will get 5 complete doubles, and no singles. Also the non-LCI has less spacing and more subtle grills, where as the LCI has more spacing and more emphasized grills. So, if the LCI had 14 grills as well, I think it would have looked great! And based on that, I think the paired style grills, in my case, look more natural on the LCI E92 vs. the non-LCI. I have both models, so I might give it a try and cut/saw out the "extra" ones and see how it looks. If I do, I will post pics here. Until then, take care!

Actually, forget the doubles! I think singles with extra spaces like the ones in the new Photoshop-ed version look a lot better.

The photo shop of the double grills on the LCI looks pretty damn good.
