18" BBS CH - wrapped in????? A little help.
I'm still debating wheel selection . . . I am leaning towards some 18" BBC CH wheels but am having a hard time choosing tires.
Right now I am running the stock 161s with Bridgestone RFTs on my 2006 325i with sport. I don't mind the tires - although I do get some tramlining and the rides a bit stiff. So, I guess what I am looking for is the best all season tire with the best ride, durability, performance etc. I also wouldn't mind if the tires absorbed a bit more on the harsh roads. Any thoughts on the best tires? Tire rack rates the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position as #1 and Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season as #3. I also want to keep my staggered set up. What size tires would be best? 225/45/18 front and 255/40/18 rear? Any advice or guidance you guys can offer is appreciated. |

Ive heard very good things about the Eagle F1 all seasons, but havent ever used them myself.
Also if you are going 18 it is 225/40R18 255/35R18, to keep the same overall diameter

Thats excellent - thank you guys for your help. Yeah, from what I've read here the Eagle F1 all seasons are probably the way to go.
Just looking on Tire Rack at the wheels. Its calling for 18x8.5 for fronts and 18x10 as an option for the rears. 18x10 seems BIG to me. Are these suckers going to poke pretty hard? Or should I just go for 18x8.5 all around? Any thoughts? |

with that size, I would recommend going the 235/265 route. They will fit the wheels better. There are many many people on this forum running those sizes except in 19s. Look around and see if you like it. Also click my sig picture. The blue car in those pictures is running 8.5 front 9.5 rear with the 235/265. another .5 inch wont make that big of a difference

I could definitely do the 235/265 on the 18x8.5 fronts and 18x10s rear.
Would these work well without any mods to my fenders? The last thing I want to do is damage after dropping loot on new wheels. |

For the money I would definetly go with General Exclaim UHP tires. They are my overall fave.

19s huh. . . i'm a bit worried about what they'll do to my ride. I like aggressive and I like performance - but I also have to keep in mind this is a commuting car. I drive close to 80 miles a day.
I want to be a bit on the comfortable side. Wont 18s be a bit more cushy for me? I think the set up on 18s would be aggressive enough for me. |
