How about
M Sports look better than Se's (even as an SE driver who has had many sports before, I agree, but I chose to prioritise speed over looks this time when it came to handing out my hard earned cash) SE seats are crap, Sports seats are ace. Mine has sports seats, so I'm happy Most SE's roll on crap looking wheels. Mine is on 230's, so I'm happy I once accused 335diesel of only getting an SE because he couldn't afford a Sport, that was childish and wrong, and I apologise. SE suspension is much better on most roads. Just not quite good enough when 'pressing on' I like the Anthracite headlining on Sports, and prefer the thicker wheel Wood looks crap in BMWs. (IMHO) |

PJS, your suspension is M-sport suspension.

The only thing you cant spec an se with is the bodykit, mbadges and anthracite headlining.
many Se have sport seats, sports steering wheel etc. Id rather go without the suspension and the mbadges at the cost of the bodykit, if it all cost the same. |

When I was looking for mine, it was a choice of either an M-Sport with a 4 pot or an SE with the 35d - sheep in wolfs, or wolf in sheeps |

It's just another 'mods' thread.
Just that these mods are over priced and supplied by BMW. Obvious that they would be held in such high esteem, this can be seen by the huge number of ///M badges stuck on the boot to remind the paupers.

Believe me, it depends on what SE you've got.
My 55 reg SE did not ride as well as my current 59 reg M sport. There was a big dif. Before I bought my M sport, I road tested a succession of motors, Audi, BMW, Jag, Merc, along a particularly uneven road. The M-sport was def better than SE. Would'nt have bought it otherwise! The smoothest ride was Jag XF then Merc C200, Audi A4, M sport, SE. The M sport was the best all round driver. The Jag was just too big, I felt like Mr Big! So it was the M sport, never looked back! |

If cost was no option then M-Sport all the way....but it is so no.
We were buying 2nd hand by budget and an M-sport was fetching circa 3k more at that stage......so thats probably one benefit for brand new buyers, slightly better resale. Did i think the M-sport was worth the extra cash? No. We got a motor with Sport seats, 17's, Xenons etc and I think with it being an E91 it kinda suits having no kit. I have also pinned the pipes off our motor down seriously harsh country lanes and I have noted absolutley no issues with the suspension at all......always there when i wanted it, never let me down. This might obviously be different at the Ring or something but for UK roads.....i cant imagine M-sport vs standard suspension would make ANY difference. Just IMO of coursey J |

SE on properly made (non cracking) 17s with M Sport suspension and non RFTs - perfect ride/handling compromise, doesn't cry if it sees a pothole and all tyres available at a reasonable price so you can get the best ones every time. Good for Winter too. Who cares if it doesn't please the chavs?
Did I just say that? Oh dammit I did |
