Subwoofer sound in cabin

I installed an 12" Alpine type X sub (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...SWX-1243D.aspx) in a ported box, crunch amp (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu..._P1-20001.aspx) , cap, hilo, 4 guage wiring.

This sounds great when the trunk is open, but im not getting much inside the car. Ive read these trunks are pretty sealed. I do not have a ski-pass through oem, but was thinking of cutting through the plastic and metal piece. any recommendations or any full DIY on that or other solutions?

FYI

I think that is the hard solution .
You could get more by putting sws-8s under the seats and amping them
That at least would be more than adequate for me.

I had the exact same problem. Installed 2 w6 12's running a jl 1000.1/v2. The sound did not permeate the trunk. It was very quiet in the cabin.

I replaced the setup with 2 jl w7 12's running 2 jl 1000.1/v2 in a ported enclosure firing forwards (directly into the cabin) with the ski pass down. I did not want to cut into the BMW rear deck lid.

If you dont care cutting a rectangle into the rear decklid and covering with mesh to look OEM can solve the issue. its been done before should solve the problem, check out my system http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3906995/ the current w7 setup and past w6 setups are both on my cardomain.

Don't cut into the rear deck it won't make a difference in sound. I know from experience. What I would recommend corner loading, it's more efficient. I'd also recommend a better amp. You can get an mrp 500 on eBay for about $150.
