I find it very ironic that the limp mode occurs at the same exact RPM with the JB+ and SSTT in similar temperatures. The easy solution for the JB+ is to turn the boost lower, I do not have that option. The real solution would be to figure out what is different with the cars that have this issue (e.g. leak, oil in intercooler, higher mileage) compared to just lowering the boost. |

If I clear the code (which I have done), take off the tune, and go to the dealer, they tell me nothing is wrong, because the problem only occurs with the tune....hence why some of us are reaching out on the forum for ideas.

Before installing the tune one has to make sure the car is free of problems and quality fuel is used, as well as proper operation of the tune (outside temperature, boost settings, etc.) Thus not to blame it on the tune after the CEL's are thrown. Mind you there are lots of stock N54s with problems in the first place. So I think the tuner will help you faster then us throwing random ideas around and making it look like a tuner war at the end.

OP,first things first.
1.Contact Burger Motorsports. 2.If possible, get your car scanned. If you dont want to buy a scanner, there might be someone local who can scan your car. |

Limp modes are not just the byproduct of mods... I get them from cornering to hard. If it's a one time thing, i wouldn't worry about it. How long have you had the JB+ on for?

If the 30FF does not trigger a warning light it's not a big issue though. Does not reveal you had a tune installed, just that the car took longer than expected to build boost. Mike |

Impressive, the funny thing is as it gets warmer and warmer more and more people are going to experience problems with this N54 engine. Lucky for me I see it year round.

As many of you suggested, I contacted Terry at Burger Motorsports; he and Mike were both quick to respond. Also as many of you mentioned Terry was extremely professional and provided great customer service. Thanks for everyone's input.

Yeah I will need to do that, I was just in for inspection so hopefully it will be a while before I need to go to the dealer, in the mean time I'm looking for a BT tool to clear them. If I cant locate someone with one I will just have to go to Bimmerworks to get it cleared, I spoke with them and they have a tool.

SSTT for 8 months now limping
I've had my SSTT for 8 months on my '08 and today for the fist time went into limp mode. Pulled the tune out and it runs ok now but haven't tried putting it back in. What should I do next?
