OEM Aluminum Pedals, and some other e90 stuff..

Have had a real good weekend for the e90 so far. I posted the other day that it was her one year birthday, so I bought some oem aluminum pedals. I've been wanting those since I got the car. I thought they would look incredible with the black/alum interior. And they do..

Here's some pics..

1. Before (took out rubber mats from the winter, wahoo!)
2. After without floor mats
3. After with summer mats in (freshly shampooed)

4. Spent the rest of the day detailing the interior,
It looks incredible now..

Pedals look incredible! They definitely dress up the interior and make it more sport and less boring.. And so glad to have the rubber mats out..

Got a slip on my door Friday when I got home from work. Luckily I left a few minutes early, so I just made it in time to the post office to pick them up. Will install these when I put on my summer wheels.. Next post about the summer wheels..

I'm going to give these a shot for now. If they don't provide enough output I might order HID's. Around here on the backroads it's really nice to have the ground lit up in front of you for avoiding potholes. The next post will show why avoiding potholes is important..

Following Paul's DIY on e90post, I figured I'd give curb rash repair a shot. Bought some supplies as shown. I figure worst case scenario, I'll bring them to Rim Pro to have them professionally fixed. So far so good though..

First pics are after initial sanding. This is on 161's btw. One rear has two small gouges along the diameter, and some scraping on a spoke. The other wheel is a front wheel. The rash was very small. I think I'm the only person who would really notice it, and it took several minutes to find where it was/which rim it was. But hell, I figured I'd give it a shot since I had all the tools and chemicals.. Scrapes were much smaller than they look in the first two pictures. Forgot to take before pictures..

This is after all of the initial sanding, and a lot of cleaning and preping the surface..

Sanded a lot from here. Started coarse, worked my way to 2000. When I was done, if you ran your hand around everything, you could not tell which area was worked on. It was perfect.. Brought them outside in the sun, and primed them..

I probably sprayed more area than I should have. But the shapes look perfect. You cannot tell which areas I filled. I'll probably let them back a little more in the sun, and then go start sanding everything with very fine paper.

I also shook the silver colored paint for a while and tested it on some cardboard. I think the match should be exact.

I bought brand new cobalt bits to ensure good drilling through the hardened steel. I center punched, worked my way up thru bits, and then deburred. The holes came out perfect...

PS. I was a little nervous about this too though at first. Don't tell the others.. Results look incredible though, I am really glad I did this..

I would feel even more uncomfortable paying somebody else to drill holes in my pedals.
This is a great/easy cosmetic mod that if done patiently, is not remotely dangerous to the car.

Yeah. I was thinking as I was doing this -

"This is perfect. It looks great, and I am 100% confident in the quality of my work. I wonder the hack job that they would do at the dealership.."

I definitely would not have trusted someone else to do this..

Thanks Chesmu!! I can't wait to see the final product. I just brought them into the garage and will set up a space heater. I am ready to sand (2000 grit), clean, and paint the silver. Then I'll maybe do the clearcoat tonight..

I vaccuumed and cleaned the whole garage with the shop vac to minimize the amount of crap in the air and floor. Want to do this in as clean of an environment as possible.. I can't wait to see the final product..

PS. I'm an absolute perfectionist. I am extremely happy with how things look right now..

Hmm, you put in the dead pedal too. I like it. I put in brake and accelerator pedals and was wondering how it would look. I got the same H11 bulbs for my fogs too, but have not installed yet.

Bruno, I think I know the problem.. You're supposed to drink after you work on your car, not during..
