Hey all,
I'm aware that the info I'm asking below may exist on the forum, but I couldn't find it. So I'd love a response, or a link where I could find a response.

I have Base audio, and am looking to upgrade my door speakers (and add tweeters). I already have an amp and a flat EQ (via aftermarket HU). I've purchased the Audio System 3-way kit specifically designed for the E90.

The replacement under seat woofers are installed, and I have already run new speaker wires to the trunk where they will be connected to independent channels on my amp.

I understand that the stock base door speakers are already high-passed at 200Hz, and that they share a channel with the stock under-seat woofers.

I'd like to control the control the x-over frequency from my x-over in the trunk, and bypass whatever is currently high-passing my OEM door speakers. Can you help me achieve this? I understand that the AS mids can play down to 100Hz, so I'd like to be able to set that myself, rather than limiting them to play only to 200Hz if I use the existing wiring and built-in high-pass filter.

I thought removing the OEM under seat woofers might solve the problem (assumed the filter would be in that area somewhere), but after removing those speakers, and leaving those terminals unplugged, the doors continue to play and sound filtered. I suppose it is possible that the OEM mids are just so poor at playing mid-bass that it sounds as though there's a HPF, but I suspect there is an actual HPF in use somewhere.

Can anyone help me out?

Have you taken off the door panel to see how the wiring goes to the speaker? If there's no hpf there you should be good because after the door you could always just rewire them just to be sure. Are the mids going to be powered by an amp or do you have a head unit going in?

It doesn't look like there are any crossovers even the Hi Fi only get a capacitor
between the tweeter and door speaker.

Not sure I understand completely, but if you started with the base system, then you have no OEM speaker wiring going to the trunk. So, to be able to use the amp crossovers and run 4 channels to the woofers and the door speakers, you will need two pairs of speaker wires per side run from the trunk.

I already have a HU installed and amplifiers hooked up. My installer connected all stock speakers to amp channels, without opening the doors or pulling out front seats. Guessing he just tapped into the stock wiring somewhere else in the car.
This is why I wasn't sure if there was stick a stock capacitor/filter I had to bypass somewhere near the stock woofers or mids.
I haven't opened my doors yet, but will be doing so soon when I replace the mids and add tweeters. I plan to use existing wiring that goes into the door, which are already plugged to amps from somewhere else.

Looks like I don't have to worry about any filters anyway.

Stereo system: iDrive-equipped E9x does not have caps in the front mids. OEM HU will have caps within the front mids.

The caps are not really filters in this particular case, they are actually to show a load of 4 ohms to the OEM HU as it is not stable at 2ohms -isolating the mid from the woofer. Mids and woofers (each are 4ohms) are connected in parallel in the Stereo system.

I have just removed the front mids from my 2005 e90, base stereo (6 speakers) with iDrive.
There was a capacitor mounted on each of the door speakers. Hope this helps.
