I've had great results with just the caliper kits on the track. The best thing about the caliper kits as that you can use the OEM rotors and you can still fit 17" wheels over the calipers. To me, that's a great option to have. Here are the pics that I took when I had the silver CSLs: 6 POT Front 4 POT Rear

A lot of people are running 4 pot Brembos in the front on a track. More pistons isn't necessarily better.

you can fit the 6-piston Brembo's under 18" wheels even with 380mm rotors. It would probably work only on e90 335 due to more aggressive offset. Volk 18" TE37 will clear those calipers and rotors. So, no - you don't have to go only with 19" wheels. here are some pics and info from Bob@BPS Quote:

Congrats - there are at least a couple sets of wheels in 18" that'll fit over the 6-piston brakes. Most 18" wheels are not going to clear the 6-piston Brembos, especially the stock wheels. And if there is 5 - 10mm clearance with the 355mm 6-piston Brembos (as stated below), the 380mm won't fit. They're 11mm larger than the 355mm (dimension from the center of the wheel to the inner barrel). Brembo----355mm----------6--------------210mm Brembo----355mm----------4--------------200mm Brembo----380mm----------4--------------215mm Brembo----380mm----------6--------------221mm I'm not trying to bust on you at all. I am actually glad that someone else has done testing and found wheels that fit. It's not easy to find an 18" wheel that's going to clear that caliper. P.s. Bob's car looks SICK!

There was fitment tests done on the M6 wheels with the Brembos - and they did clear. If you want a cut out to measure for yourself I can sent you some over. Anyway as AW325xi - its very hard to get the brakes on most 18" sized wheels, there are probably a handful of wheels that will fit the BBK, so very difficult. |

IMHO, Brembos seem to be more for the HIN/HID crowd where they wanna display a BBK..rather than use it on the track. I like Brembo's...know Gary at Race Technologies (the Brembo importer) and have talked to him several times about what Brembo has to offer. StaSIS is local to me...and I can drop in anytime to ask them questions or have them check out something on my brakes. That is why I went with the StaSIS Alcon set up.

I think the main questions is, "what pads are you running with the Alcons?"
Although I agree with you with the Alcons, I believe that the key part is the pad. I'd like to know what pad is being used with your alcons. Because, it really doesn't matter what BBK you are running if you are running a street pad on the track. Quote:

Mr. 5..I am running the StaSIS provide SBS Track pad..not their race pad. It does not squeal like my old pagid blacks..or my Hawk Blues. SBS is out of Skandinavia.
