500 miles to one tank is very impressive for 335, i have a 2011 328i xdrive and i did get 820 KM for 506 miles to a tank once, i was very impressed considering i had the cruise set to 125km/h or 77mph

I've been trying out Fuelly.com since I got my 325i a couple months back.
Figures aren't great, but I do spend a fair bit of time around town. Best tank so far was about 460, so it seems I have a way to go to catch the really economical drivers, but then that's not why I bought this car!

mines better than expected... had my 325i for just over a week now, been out and about in it a lot and not really driving carefully as i've been enjoying some spirited driving. The end result was 31.5mpg.
In my old E46 330 (an auto though) i rarely saw anything better than 27. So i'm pleased with the few extra mpg. The new generation of engine are clearly more efficient. |

Currently getting 25.2MPG on mostly A-road driving, goes up to around 31 on longer journeys.
Really happy with that, worlds better than the 17mpg I was getting in my old RX8! |

I'm pretty sure the OBC remembers the last 9999 miles only, and then loops. |

This is the most I've done and dare to do. Half of the miles were done following the traffic flow and on the way back I was doing 60ish all the way. Aircon and cruise control all the way. Note the fuel gauge and rev counter, engine is running. Computer said I had 12 miles left apparently.
Don't think I can beat that anymore. 335i. |

LCI 320d (re-mapped) usually get 600-650 miles per tank with a combination of town, motorway and country road driving - occasional spirited drive.
Just got home after working away the last few days and have done 734 miles per tank (59.9l) - motorway driving with some 'sprints' averaging 55mpg. According to the on board computer, I could've got another 23 miles! |

I've had my 2008 e92 320d just over a week now. So far the car is saying 50.4MPG. Live and work in Lincolnshire so there's no motorway driving and plenty of tractors etc.
I'm impressed so far as this is my first BMW and the fuel economy was one of the deciding factors. Compared to my old car (2008 Mondeo 2.0 titanium x) this is a massive improvement as that averaged around 40 mpg! I guess im being very sensible at the moment as im still getting used to the car. The MPG gauge is making me drive differently however, not so heavy footed when plodding along makes a big difference. And the gear change prompt uses 6th gear allot more than my old mondeo which never liked 6th until well into the 70 MPH range |

Some people getting good economy here. I do a 400 mile trip every other weekend and motorway only at 75mph sees 42mpg. I have never seen it go higher than that..2005 330d auto.
Driven normally as I would a focus its low 30s. Out of interest I found the adjustment numbers for my fuel computer, I can make mine read whatever I like. It is amazing when it reads 50mpg even though I knew it wasnt real. Weird how our minds work. Its set for real numbers now as verified by brim to brim every now and again. Wouldnt be difficult to crank it back up to make a sale though. |

The auto gearbox in the pre Sept 2007 cars was far less economical than the later ZF 'box.
30-40 is about right for a 2005, you could see a good 6+ mpg more with the later unit. |

I've got a 57 plate 325d (auto) and im barely getting 30mpg.. even if im doing a lot of urban driving shouldn't this be a lot higher?
I used to get 30mpg average in my 59 plate Civic Type R and I'm driving with an even lighter foot if anything! Tyre pressures and engine oil checked. The only thing was that the engine oil was topped up over the max line on the dipstick. I only picked the car up a couple of weeks ago through BMW AUC. Worth taking into my local dealership to check out? |

Ive got a 2009 320d saloon,
I used to get 57.6 mpg average on mostly fast a-roads with motorway. After i started using v-power diesel i get between 59.1-62.7 mpg on the same route. On 50-60mph a-roads my best is 80.4mpg over 15 miles! Was hard work concentrating so hard to achieve that though! |
