19" x 8.5" what tire size is good?

So I have these 19x8.5 rims and ordered 235/35/19 Tires all around, but when I had them mounted the tire shop guy told me that these tires are too small for the rims and they wont protect them enough. He still mounted them and now from the side if I look carefully I can see some space between the lip of the rim and the tire cuz apparently the tires dont cover the area completely. However, I came on e90post and saw that most people who run 19x8.5s have 235/35.. So how did you guys do it?

I have 19x8.5 on all 4 also.. I have Kumho Ecsta MX 235/35ZR19, its cheap and still a pretty good tire. It is a little noisey till you get a few miles on them though.

235/35 is pretty standard for that wheel size with no problems. Also, what are your local roads like? I had a guy make the same comment in the past mounting low pros on a 20" wheel. But the installer had a monster truck with 35's lol..

Hmm not familiar with that tire. Have any pics? Someone on here stretched a 245 on 10.5 rim. Would never think "too small for the rims" would apply with your setup..
