About to buy an e90- thoughts on deal?

Hi, I have a handshake on an E90 with 114k. No accidents, clear title. 330i, 6spd, 113k miles, sport package, and sunroof. Appears to drive fine, will need 2 rear tires. Price $9200. What do you think?

High mileage but the N52 engine on the 330i seems to be really reliable. As for the price it seems okay to me but perhaps someone else can chime in about that. You should bring it to an Indy shop or a BMW dealer for a PPI just to make sure everything is fine.

What's your opinion on your 370Z? Are you buying this as a DD?

Sold the 370z 2 weeks ago (owned it new since 1/09) - wasn't any more fun to drive. This e90 will become a dd project for me. I thought 9200 seemed like a very good deal, suprised some of you think it is ok. I need an intermediate car before I buy something new again (nothing really excites me in my price range).

I think its a good deal, but im sure you could talk him down a pretty penny depending were the dealership is located, if its in the middle of Boston forget about it, a student will come swipe that up for that price NP.
goodluck

It has the hydraulic lifter ticking noise (can hear if you open the hood). Thoughts on that?

Thats a good deal. My 2006 325I auto with 108K miles and base everything, I have been offered 10-11K for it. I would pick this up.

The ticking is normal on these e90! Thats a damn good deal! I have seen them go to 200k+ so this won't be an issue. 9K for a modern car that people think is worth 30-40k.... Go for it. My cousin has 130k on her e90 330xi and it drives like day one.

Did the OP have maintenance history in hand? If not run drive to the local BMW dealer and see what they can pull off with the VIN. It looks very nice so im assuming this person either got everything done at a dealer or local indy.

I'm picking it up in 2.5 hrs. Trying to figure out how to get the maintenance history. BMW dealer didn't seem willing to give it to me.

I went from a 350Z to a 325i and love the change. Good priced but high miles, I would check for a few things.

Leaks?
Water Pump/Thermostat?

If not, use that as bargaining chips.

They don't? well after you buy it you can go to any dealer and will info on it. Sometimes they are pricks about it im not sure why. Post more pictures once you pick it up. Is that 9k negotiated or still some haggle room?

When do these clutches give out? My buddy in his e36 has 240k on his stock clutch....lol

Ask about maintenance. Water pump, t-stat, ignition coils and starter will set you back a good 4-5k. Lots of maintenance to be done after 100k.

Thanks for the info guys, 9k was a negotiated deal, was asking 11k. No leaks that I could see, it drove well.

I'd probably go for it. Not as fast as a 335i but less hassles too.

Make sure to look at the drive belts and pullies! That was a surprise after I bought mine. Everything looked great and drive great. And went in for an oil change and belt was about to come off.
