No, she's fine with the 250 because she is a brand new rider and is not aggressive at all. Maybe in a few years she'll want something faster, but I really doubt it.

Keep safe on your bikes guys (and girls). I love bikes but the safety really puts me off from getting one, lots of traffic and distracted drivers here.

Only negative I've heard about lowering is the bike is it is then lower to the ground as are the pegs so be careful in curves.

i had a 250 when i went abroad, it was pretty fun, popped a wheelie on it and i used to ride in sandals wherever i went though highheels wouldnt feel too good im sure.. make sure you lower it important to be able to put your feet down till you get balance at low speed, just make sure its a bike where it can be lowered to your need without affecting rear tire rubbing.. had a friend whos tire rubbed for every bump

year abroad 250
rented a place at the top of a hill with complete dirt road, miss letting the back tire slide around to pull into the driveway

Miss my busa. When I crashed it, I ended up getting a ride home on the back of a Ducati....that was piloted by none other than Steve Dinan.

Just a lowly S50B30. I was early on in the swap craze and it was much easier to setup the DME on the non OBD2 motor. And this one kind of fell into my lap when a low mileage 95M3 spun into a tree. Got the engine bay and transmission for a song.

Sara,

Just my .02: The CBR600, or any 600 supersport for that matter, is NOT a starter bike. Not sure how much experience you have, but modern 600's have more power than 80's liter-bikes.

I'd recommend a Ninja 650 or an SV 650 if you have a little bit of experience. Great starter-friendly bikes that continue to be fun for an experienced rider. (Not that you asked for a recommendation)

Garage List
Here's my bike:

And here they are getting ready for winter hibernation:

While the car can never compare to the bike in terms of speed, my previous car/now winter car is a Lancer... so yea.

Ride/drive safe.

I dont want a push button bike :/ I want something (lighter than the gsxr 750 that I ride) but that has substantial power

Yeah, I was strongly discouraged, even as I guy, to start off with anything other than this sport bike ninja 650-which is Not a super sport bike because anything more than what I've got wouldn't be as forgiving of mistakes I'd make as a new rider. Can you imagine giving too much throttle on the highway and popping a wheelie as a beginner? I was able to learn on the wife's 250 for a couple of weeks before getting on my 650 and I'm glad I did.

Meh, I rode a KX250 as a kid and then didn't ride for 15 years before getting the MV. Its pretty easy to make a liter bike have the power of a 250, just keep the revs low.

The only reason to get something gutless first is lack of trust in the rider. A crash at 50 hurts the same regardless of the output the bike has.

Being said the SV650 is a great starting bike. Cheap as hell to buy and since they are nekkid you can get one that is a little old but looks exactly like a new one. Throw some sliders on there, armor up, and party.

Yeah I hear ya. Riding a bike is such a visceral experience. No car can compete (and I've logged time in a 458 Italia and Gallardo). Even my SV650 Racebike was more exhilerating experience. Riding at speed require so much more focus on your body and mind; I think that may be why it doesn't compare to driving a car. Now that I've hung up my leathers though, I do appreciate having more sheet metal around me at 100mph+

Here's some pics of my racebike before I sold her: http://joshstichter.showitsite.com/#...ay-horizontal/
