WTS/T: 600whp cobalt DD
Have this over on e46fanatics but thought i'd post it here as i really want to get into a 335i coupe. so a simply copy and post will work hopefully. REMEMBER PRICE IS OBO, ANY TRADE OFFER WELCOME. I know not many will see the price in the car, but i'm already taking a huge hit if i sell it at that price so i can't budge too far. trades would be ideal. please be sure to read the whole ad before jumping to conclusions. thank you. Fastest lsj on a stock engine unported blower. Second highest horsepower and torque in an LSJ. Highest horsepower and torque in a daily driven cobalt Highest horsepower and torque on a factory transmission Highest horsepower and torque on an unported head in any cobalt. Highest horsepower and torque in any cobalt on pump gas. no meth, unported head. The History of the Turbalt It started life in Arkansas being owned by Stuart Leiby as a factory bone stock ss. With minor things done to it including a 2.85" pulley and swapping out the factory transmission for one with and LSD he started taking the car to the track for better times and in 2008 drove the car to a 12.75@108, the fastest time for a stock blowered cobalt. Also while under Stuart's ownership the car was fitted with Ksport coilovers. Before long he, like most cobalt owners, got tired of the limits of the factory m62. Coming upon a great deal on a Forced Performance 3076 turbo setup, he jumped on it and the real fun began. pushing in the mid 300s for horsepower he took the car to a 12.6@114 on the same tires, more worn out, only managing a 2.1 60' time. He then decided he wanted to sell the car in favor the S2000 he currently drives and sold the car to me. After getting the car and taking it up to Ft. Knox, KY with me i noticed power wasn't there and i was getting a lot of blow by. After a compression test showed all cylinders below 120psi with two being at 105psi i said, "lets see how much it'll take". not long after, it blew, and i made the call to ZZPerformance. After a month of phone calls and emails to Ryan, we finally decided on a path of which no other customer had taken before, an all out race motor...made to be street driven. Two weeks after the car was shipped to them, it was finished.. and it was a monster. on 91octane, a factory head, and no methanol injection the car made 443whp/358wtrq on only 20psi with the 80s going static in the upper rpms. so then a few pulls on the race tune. 30psi and 110octane resulted in 591whp and 477wtrq with the 80s again going static in the upper rpms. Me and Ryan decided that going with a billet wheel S262 would be a good choice being that with a built transmission i will be able to NLS and hold boost the entire pass after launching off the 2step. I haven't been able to make a solid pass on this setup yet because i'm still on the factory transmission, unfortunately other expenses got in the way and i've just been street driving the car. Reason i want to get rid of the car is the local track was just sold and shut down, i built this car to be a daily driver street/strip monster but now the closest track is Heartland Park Topeka or Ennis Texas. i've always had a thing for BMWs and Supras so it's worth a shot. ZZPerformance just took their cobalt to 9.82@141 on roughly 540-550whp, so this car definitely has times in it if i ever buy the built transmission. thats all it needs to be "finished". i'm sure the factory transmission would hold a few passes as it's held twice the hp and 150+ more tq than its rated for but i just didn't want to risk it. car has only seen Brad Penn 5w30 since the new engine. The block itself has been tested to 898whp/7xx(don't remember exact)tq. with a swap to a ported head, internals i have can go into the ported head, and 198# injectors. i GUARANTEE this car with do ATLEAST 700whp/550wtrq on this turbo. asking price is $26,500obo and open to any trades, the ideal trade would be a black or montego blue 335i coupe but like i said, open to anything. car does have a lien but i will pay it off if traded. never been in an accident but it does have 117k on the body, paint is great except for the hood needs a good cut and buff. car has a dent on the drivers quarter right by the door, one on the passenger door body line, and one on the trunk where it was hit by a softball. also the passenger side turn signal reflector has vibrated off, both lights could use a refinish of the lenses. i bought the car for $11k and have receipts for $16k for the engine build/turbo setup alone. not counting the RE11s, drag radials and wheels, transmission+swap, $200 car cover(included in sale/trade), gauges, cost of shipping the car to the shop and plain ticket to pick it up. already taking quite a loss at 26. this car already holds many records and still has a few left, and it hasn't even hit the track with this setup. i'll let the accomplishments and pictures speak for themselves. since these pictures i have lowered the rear down and added the new breather setup. those will be posted below this set. lag is really only an issue on a roll. at the track, launch on the 2step and nls, you'll stay in boost the whole pass. that and when its on the race gas the sheer acceleration makes up for that little bit of lag. but a .55 a/r housing is only $215. then say hello to 30psi<3,500rpms.
