newbie need advice plz

Hi all, New to the bmw world after coming from jap lol, Looking at getting a e92 m sport either 325i or 325d and just wanted to know if both were affected by the timing chain issue thanks for any info

If you're referring to the issue where the bolts from the timing chain sprocket break, no, I believe it was was N55 motors only, so later model 335i's.

Neither of the other people replied noticed that you're in the UK, and were asking about a diesel engine (versus the N52.)

To my best knowledge, the timing chain problem of the M47/N47 diesel engines was mostly fixed by updates by 2009 models. No gasoline (petrol) engine ever had problems like that. The diesel engine is radically different (timing chain at the rear rather than front.)
