3m tape for spoilers

I had bought some 3m tape from pep boys from my trunk spoiler. After the install the tape is to bulgy and you can see it from far. The spoiler does not sit flush.

Do they sell 3m tape that is thinner ?

Going through the same thing.
I gave up on using tape. Tomorrow I'm going to re-attach with urethane windshield adhesive. Closer fit, no gray showing, etc.

Also, a spoiler attached with tape can be removed without a lot of effort.
I decided that I didn't like tape and grabbed one side of the spoiler and started to pull and twist. Came off in about 1 minute of slow steady pressure.

BMW uses Betalink which is permanent . There is also some stuff that body shops uses that will attach a panel and can never be removed.

The urethane stuff will allow removal but it will take a lot of effort. More than the tape.

They must.... Thinner as in hight not width correct? I had very thin own double side tape on my own BMW wing and it works perfect, sits flush and stays on up until 125 mph lol

Yes height, not width.

Garage List
3M tape

I know body shops have the thinner tape.
Mine has been on for over 4 years on my 2008, and no issues.
The underside of the lip spoiler should be recessed to allow for the thickness of the tape.
Is your spoiler aftermarket or BMW's ?

I installed my ACS Carbon Fiber spoiler today. Actually about 2 hours ago.
I tried the 3M tape from a body shop. I just wasn't comfortable, I removed it like I said in a previous post. Today I used 3M fast dry windshield urethane adhesive.
Waiting for it to dry.
The benefit of the windshield adhesive is the ability to align the spoiler and check adhesive contact. Once in place add adhesive where you need and put it back.

Before using any adhesive I dry installed the spoiler and and completely masked off the area leaving only the install surface uncovered. I then put adhesive on the spoiler and installed. I immediately removed it and checked to see where I didn't have enough adhesive. I added more, then reinstalled and taped it down tight.

I'll remove the tape in a few hours.
I forgot to take pictures of the install. 8-(

It is an aftermarket oem style spoiler

I might consider the beta link but will first try going to some paint shops and look for the thin 3m tape
