Closing the sunroof, engine always need to be on??

There has to be a better way to close the sunroof without needing the engine on? I usually always crack the roof for ventilation and forget to close it when I park. This is always after I have turned off the engine and it won't close with it off. Is there a work around?

Do you have comfort access?

If so touch the lock portion of the handle until it closes, if not try putting the key in the door and turning it to lock, then hold until it closes up.

You can also have the car programmed to roll up windows/sunroof via lock button on the remote

No comfort access...
Can I program the car myself or is this a dealer issue?

I think there is a DIY on how to program it yourself, you'll need a laptop and a cable to talk to the car, some files to download and open/modify [haven't read the full DIY].

Does the key in the door thing work?

I've got a 2006 E91 and the sunroof (and windows) will close from the remote if you press and hold the centre button for about 8 to 10 secs

Yeah the key in the door does work, but that seems almost more work than turning the car on again closing it that way.

For my 2008, I can open and close the sun roof after I've shut off the engine as long as I don't open any doors. Once I open a door, I can't operate the sun roof anymore.

You don't need the engine on to close the roof, just press start until your gas gauge registers a reading, one you see that you can close the roof without the engine being on.
