JB+

I've searched, but there appears to be a lot more topics around the JB3 for obvious reasons. Can anyone chime in if they've thrown any codes with the JB+ running the default boost? I want a little more oomph, but want to make sure the chance of me needing a BT tool handy is low if I go with JB+ with default versus JB3. Thanks for any replies.

Pretty low impact mod. JB+ is a gateway drug so be careful.

Ha. Thanks. I've gotten a few warnings from other members. I really don't see myself going to the JB3 as I think I'll have more peace of mind with the JB+ and the HPFP ticking time bomb in my car. I'll prob move onto other areas of the car after the JB+, but can't see passing it up for the money.

I have. Is there a trick for searching for "JB+" with the search function? It sees the + as a concatenator rather than a symbol. Even with quotes it doesn't like it.

Default rarely throws codes. But defaults for girls. Run it at 100% and buy a BT cable. Or buy a jb3 and run a low map.

Running on crappy Californian 91octane I avoid 100%.

The difference between 50% and 75% is decent, mostly lower end response for me but looking at posted dyno numbers, there's minimal difference with 91octane. Using the BT tool, I've thrown a single code with a cylinder misfire on a very hot day at 6000rpm. Nothing else besides that.

Its mainly going to depend on a number of thigs. The one that stands out the most would be what BMW software are you running? The newer software is more prone to throw a code with the TMAP tunes. Check on the 1addicts site, there are manipulation codes being thrown with both the JB+ and SSTT. Just CYA and get a BT tool or at least find a local shop that can check for codes, I wouldn't leave my warranty in the hands of hearsay. Just my .02

Yeah, I definitely plan on getting the car scanned at a shop after it's installed. I'm just trying to be conservative so I'm not throwing codes after I have that done. My concern is the HPFP failing and having a code thrown. I'm trying to avoid buying the BT tool, but I may just have to bite the bullet and remind myself it's only ~$300 for peace of mind.
