Interior side panel lights

I've been searching and can't find anything on the side trim/door panel lighting strip that runs along the side. Heck, I don't even know what to call it.

But anyways my passenger side rear lights are out and I'm wondering where I can get a new one and maybe a DIY on how to do this?

If anyone has any helpful info that would be great.

Awesome, thanks for that.
Yeah the strip in the rear panel is out. I'm sure I can find a diy at least on how to remove the panel. The rest should be pretty straight forward.

OK! I happened to find a really good video to help with removal of the panels. The rear panel starts at about 26:30

So I pulled the door panel off today and realized after looking at it real fast that its not an easy replacement. There is an LED with a fiber optic tube that runs down and inside the door panel and it is one piece so you can't just replace the light if it is out. Mine however was not out, but the fiber optic part was broken just before the LED.

I also went to the dealer yesterday to see if they had a part for it, but no luck.

So if for say you wanted to replace the whole panel, does the new panel come with the led strip? Looking at the door panel part on oem.com, it makes no indication of it.

That's what I hate about all the new cars nowadays, it's REALLY difficult to fix sh!t yourself unless you're really good at turning a wrench.

Wrench turning is easy. Anyone can do it. But it can be stressful.

Fabrication is another story.

Is the led colored, or is it the strip? Curious to color change.

I remember another thread were the author try to retrofit the e92 ambient light into e90. All it is is a long strip bar with the fiber optic tube and LED shining on that tube to create the effect, all part is replaceable, you should have more lucks searching in the DIY/ cosmetics forum section.

Any idea if the person had any luck with that? I really wish the lighting strips were available on the e90..

The LED is colored. Usually fiberoptics are colorless.
