What changing the outputs thru Autologic means is that, for anybody that has Logic7 or the Individual Audio/Enhanced Premium system and is planning to get the mObridge MOST converter, now there's another option to remove the MOST/digital amp from your OEM system and install aftermarkets amps with much better sound than OEM.

This coding is fully reversible, also...
So does the navi work then or do you need the FSC codes for that? It still sucks that you'll have to swap out systems if you ever need warranty work or practically anything done on your car. If BMW can start selling these codes I will def. pull the trigger on getting a navi system in my car.

The whole retrofit is a two part coding process, vehicle specific and the FSC codes. This was the first part with custom coding.

I have been told (and will confirm/dis-prove soon) that there is an actual "retrofit path" through ISTA/P for a CIC retrofit. For some reason, this is not widely known or talked about. (is it hidden in ISTA/P?) If that actual retrofit works, part numbers would be accepted based on options/VO and no equipment change would be necessary.

Okay, that being said, no one I know has done this retrofit so its not proven to work/exist....yet. I'm waiting on one more piece, then I will start the retrofit as well and try this.

For sure there are two different types of CIC FSC codes according to BMW itself, repair and retrofit. What we need to get are the retrofit FSC codes as the repair FSC codes are for warranty purposes.

And so far, retrofit FSC are sold for a price, repair FSC are free (warranty again). For example, BMW already got the Sirius retrofit FSC codes ordering set up to enable the built-in Sat tuner in the MY2010-on iDrive. Customers will be paying for the codes, the software loading and the Sirius antenna installation.

I think that these retrofit FSC codes are more for either used CIC units (doubful) or for a replacement of the current CCC in the Business Nav outside the USA for a CIC without Nav and Voice Control. So BMW could just offer a Business iDrive to Professional Nav iDrive retrofit by just making the customer pay for the retrofit FSC codes.

I'm working in getting more info about the CIC retrofit FSC, how to order, price and -in my particular case- if I can get them for free for my purchase of the new CIC.

How can i find this out? My 335i is from 03/07.

Can i use the new idrive controler in my car? I want to upgrade to cic later on, when there is found a easy way of doing it.

By the way, great work so far! Lets hope this will be posible very soon!

Supposedly - retrofit FSC's are around $700 US... I'm sure you are right Technic - for a factory authorized retrofit (which has yet to be offered.) It sure would nice to find a way around this. (no one to my knowledge has actually dropped the coin on this and see if it works.) I still can't see why using a "used" CIC makes any difference.

My concern about used CIC is because of the OEM document telling dealers not to swap used units but to use only new units. It makes me think that dealers do not have either the capability of overriding the existing FSC codes with new FSC or recoding used units in full.

For sure it will be Cartronics GB... Autologic is working directly with him and his used CIC in the UK since last week.

That will tell us what can be done to an used CIC for both coding and FSC to those without advanced tools...

Most parts are here!

Well, I am still struggling to figure out the part number for the cable between the USB port (FYI, the USB port is p/n: 6131 9 167 196). I thought I could just buy another LVDS cable since it has two female ends, but I realized all three ports on the back of the CIC are actually different! If anyone has the part number of this USB cable, I need it!

And for the record, the 8-pin CAN connector for the new LCI CID is p/n: 6113 6 954526 - I have the connector and it fits.

The USB cable that I got used did not come with the P/N label attached as the HD CID cable came with. According to the seller, this USB cable was not part of any harness as it was just directly connected from the CIC to the glovebox port.

The USB cable has a built-in circuit/filter (most probably a 1-wire voltage sensor for USB), so the HD CID straight cable won't work even if you hack the connectors to fit the USB plugs.

I don't know if this is done on purpose by BMW to block any retrofits -I don't know what else to believe after their retrofit FSC fiasco- but what I know is that no dealer parts department has been able to find this elusive P/N anywhere, and the guys that tried are really sharp guys without hidden agendas. I asked two service shop foremen and they did not know either -meaning, they will know if they contact BMW in case of a warranty replacement, is just that they won't ask and won't tell otherwise.

Hey guys,

Is there any indication as to whether this would work on a pre-3/07? Is there any DCAN related connections on the back of the CIC? I know the switch to the new CCC (which I believe most of you have) was done at the same time as the DCAN switch, so I'm just wondering whether the pre-3/07 cars will have the correct wires in that location for the retrofit.

Forum member Patrys installed a CIC in his pre 03/07 E92 and even code it (no FSC yet). This is his old pre-03/07 CCC for sale: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...66&postcount=1
