Has anyone seen or been able to calculate the CORRECT

BSFC (Brake specific fuel consumption)

for the 2011 335d? I'm trying to get it into DashCommand so that my data is correct.

That's a great question. I think turbo diesels are in the .30-.35 range but, I honestly have no idea how that compares to the newer high performance BMW diesels.

If you find out please ensure you update this thread as I'm currently putting together a fuel system and this info is crucial.

I "think" this info is close for the R2S system in our vehicles.

I'm sure someone can find the actual BSFC. I imagine it'll be lower than most turbo diesels. I suspect .30 or maybe even .28-.29. Not sure. I'd love to get the data though.

I'm sure you or DWR has access to a program that will identify the M57's exact BSFC.

That plot has BSFC in g/kW*hr. The minimum of 212 g/Kwhr -> 0.3485 lb/hphr. That seems pretty close to what it should be.

See, I knew you'd post it. LOL I assumed it'd be a little lower but that'll work for my fuel system calculator.

For my 335d, BSFC set to .35 is definitely too low. At that setting, my torque at WOT never measured above 278 lb/ft.

Still searching for the correct number.....thanks much...

You can use the above chart I posted, along with curves of constant hp, to see about where you'd end up at for a given gear/speed/rpm condition. A great example of doing this can be seen here: https://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost....1&postcount=14

I'm just trying to figure out what I need to set the BSFC setting to in Dash Command so I can get accurate torque measurements from that software. Just interested in finding the REAL torque number my car is producing without shelling out the bucks for dyno time.

I originally posted that and noted it was from an earlier european 535d. It is probably safe to assume the emissions equipment may raise BSFC slightly, at full load.

As long as you are using it for "entertainment purposes", it is fine. But if you want accuracy, as you state, you can see from the graph a single BSFC isn't going to cut it. An inexpensive phone app like PerfExpert is going to do a much better job.

Thanks for the tip. I wish I had known there were better apps for measuring HP/TQ than DashCommand. I thought it was the best. Apparently not. $10 ->> drain.
