Nexus 7 In-Dash, Phone wireless charging

Hi all,

Just purchased a 2011 328i last week and have started with a couple of small mods.

I previously owned a Jetta and had done a similar installation and now I can't be without a Tablet in my car.

Here is a video detailing the install and the wireless charging install on the sunglasses holder.

If you have any questions, let me know. Hope you guys like it.

All I needed was the Metra Double Din Kit
My vehicle does not have Bluetooth A2DP built in so I bought this small blueooth adapter - http://www.amazon.com/Miccus-Mini-ja...ccus+bluetooth

And some bungee cord cable to mount the radio.

I'm considering removing the faceplate off the radio and sticking the radio to the back of the tablet like I saw in another thread but not really sure how to remove it yet. I'll keep it like this for a while and see how it goes..

very cool, I just couldn't imagine having the head unit there. I would have opted for the cd tray mount for the nexus which would have been way simpler.

Looks like removing the face plate was much easier than I thought. I was able to remove it and stick the radio in back of the tablet. Still making some minor adjustments but it does look much better without the radio mounted under the driver seat.

Thanks guys

UPDATE.

Successfully removed the faceplate from the Head Unit. Moved the Head Unit in back of the tablet. Much cleaner install now.

Just wanted to post some updated pictures of the Qi Charger under the sunglass tray and a couple of interface pictures of the tablet.

I am also just detailing my setup for some other folks that have PM'ed me about it.

PARTS

USB Car Charger
Metra Double Din Kit
Miccus Mini-Jax RX

NEXUS 7 SETUP

Root the tablet
Install Tasker to be able to:
- Power off tablet when not charging (tablet turns off when car is off)
- Use command - fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0 - (tablet turns on when car is on)
- Keep tablet awake
- Enable Wifi, Bluetooth

Install Nova launcher to remove things like the Dock and have more control of the interface of your tablet.

NEXUS 5 SETUP

All I did was install Tasker and set it up to turn on Mobile Hotspot whenever the phone is Wireless charging. That way I just drop it in the sunglass holder and I can start tethering to the tablet.

PICS

THATS ALL FOLKS! Thanks for looking.
