How do I band pass my Jehnert xe200 8" subs
Hi, I have my Jehnerts LP at 200 hz on my JL Audio xd600/6v2... I've heard of people on this forum band passing them from 80 hz to 200 hz . How is this done ? My Jl audio xd600/1v2 is LP at 50 hz powering a 10" Kicker Comp RT subwoofer.
Can you give me the name of the band pass crossover that I should buy as well please? Last edited by cvsnowboarder; 09-13-2015 at 03:16 PM.. |

Kaigoss, can you explain how F-mods works? I have read that they are passive, so I can imagine that F-mod adapter has internal 1st order HFP and 1st order LPF, built with compact components. And we all know, that compact inductor, for example has high resistance and it's not good.

Jehnert used to recommend an 80Hz high-pass not sure if they still do or not. Also don't know what slope. From what I have read, they are happy playing down to ~50Hz. Fmods are 12dB/oct so if you picked 80Hz, it would be down roughly 10 dB at 50Hz. 12dB down at 40Hz and 24dB down at 20Hz. I think that would be "safe". Keep in mind, the Jehnerts only have 1" voice coils and therefore cannot handle much power in the subwoofer frequency range, and need to be protected by a high pass filter.

for the jehnerts, if you use the fmods to high pass and your amp to low pass, you would probably go with either the 50 or 70 hz high pass units. they make something called the fmod cable which will do either 50 or 70 depending on orientation, you could experiment that way.

OP, don't let us recommend the crossover setting, ask the vendor you bought them from, or the manufacturer.

I wish I could ask my vendor, but I bought the Jehnerts used. So they didn't come with any documentation or manual. So I thought I'd ask the experienced members of this here forum for advice. Particularly the Jehnert vendors on this forum since I assumed they'd have first hand knowledge on band passing/ crossover points etc. I guess I'll try to contact Jehnert directly .

I totally support the vendors , but when I had the chance to get the Jehnerts used for 150 bucks I'm all over it. Nobody passes up a good deal.... nobody. Just sayin'.

Nothing against them, we just have preferences of other things as well as the cost difference. The performance is really purely subjective though too.

i have bandpassed my underseats by using the lp on my amp and then feeding that low passed 180hz signal into an audiocontrol 2xs (the rarer version with a 24db slope) electronic crossover which i highpassed at 70hz - (ebay for £80). Works great, really removed the muddiness of underseats trying to play frequencies they couldn't handle. small, quick and simple to install too.
