Does anyone have or can link me to a dyno that shows a Stage 1 +FMIC is more powerful than a Stage 2...just wondering if i should get dps or not...cuz if the above is true...why even bother with a catless dps (esp if you live in California where it has the most strict emission laws) when a Stage 1+ FMIC gives u more power

Yeah but with DPs you'll run S2+ which is fastest OTS map Cobb has.

Hey guys quick question. When installing the AP on the car the car is on the 'power' cycle with the engine off. The problem is my angel eyes are on and Im afraid its going to drain the battery preventing my car from starting. Does everybody's angel eyes stay on? The reason I ask is that my car has aftermarket BMS LED AE's so maybe they are on during the power cycle but the stock ones arent?

well with stock, angel eyes only come on after two hits with the start button. When installing COBB, just hit the button once. With iDrive you can turn running lights (angel eyes) off also.

with aftermarket, not familiar but can't you just disconnect from the battery? then connect after install? Or just hook up a battery charger while installing, I only do that when I am installing the COBB. Uninstall and MAP switch I just turn off nav screen, a/c and bluetooth.

I think you are requesting to install FMIC instead of DP's?

I am going this route anyways. In a few weeks I should have a Pro Tuned S1+ E85 with Dyno results. As for S1+ Sport vs S2 Sport (no FMIC) I am not sure which has more HP. In Cali, I am getting high IAT (IC Air Temp) 140+ deg @. +-90 deg. outside) which doesn't help with performance. I would suggest getting the FMIC first, you can always add DP's later and go S2+ at that time. S1+ Sport you should see about +20 - 30 rwhp, from S1 Sport

to get a rough estimate, look at the MAP notes, S1 Sport is 26% increase HP for Manual, and add roughly 20 - 30 hp and you can get close to S1+ Sport. The MAP notes don't say anything for S2 Sport, just S2+.

I just don't want to go the DP route until my warranty is up. Emissions its only every two years, so that's not so bad.

oh yeah,

if you can get your hands on some E85 about 20% you can do Sport and Aggressive. I was having issues with Running S1 Sport with 91. ACN fuel is no bueno!

You can and should turn off DRL's (angel eyes). In cars with iDrive you do it through settings menu. I am sure it is similar with non idrive cars

I installed my COBB and HOLY SHIT!! This thing fucking rips now. I never experienced power like this. It was so easy to install. I was afraid my battery would get drained because of the angel eyes being on. However the car started perfectly fine with no hesitation. The best part of it all, it feels completely normal during regular driving. There is still gobs of low end torque just like stock and there is no increase of lag (opposite actually). The car feels god like haha. Sorry Im still on the "initial shock" but the increase in performance is undeniable.

I do have one question tho. During one of my pulls, I had a friend behind me and he said there was white smoke coming out of my exhaust tips. During this pull I did not give it full throtte (~75%). I am on the Stage 1 Aggressive Map running on Hess 93 w/ 10% E85. My assumption is that the ECU is still learning the air and fuel ratios and the smoke will stop when the car fully adapts. Any other thoughts? Is it something I should be worried about?

Other than that though, the Cobb AP is the best purchase I've ever made (apart from the actual car of course ). Thanks Cobb!!!

The guy with 3 posts was probably right. Smoke is more pronounced when you go catless (whether its just DPs or full turbo-back catless), but you still get white smoke on completely stock cars usually resulting from the evaporation of water in the tailpipes/mufflers. Did you let the engine warm up (oil temps in 200* area) before you started ripping on it?

I really hope so

Yes I did. I actually drove a lot before installing the AP to make sure the battery was charged. Oil temps were around 230-240. Why do you think there was smoke?

Could be a returning enthusiast.

White smoke is coolant, Bluish smoke is oil and Black smoke is fuel. If it was, in fact, WHITE SMOKE then you have coolant that is being burned.

LOL,

To piggyback off your post, with stock oil cooler, is it normal to see 240 average temp with aggressive tune? While driving normal with 90 deg. Temps. It seems to be normal to me?

Mine hovers around 230-250 depending on ambient temps and driving style.

+1. 250 when I am on an aggressive cruse. 230 with cooler air. Thanks for the confirmation.
