Key Fob Question

Hey Guys,

So i recently came upon a key fob off a 2008 335i. I have a 2008 335i and one of my keys has been through the ringer so i wanted to see if its possible to replace mine with this new one. The dealer told me it should work but not with comfort access. But my question is since its not blank, would the normal process of inserting it in to the slot and holding it for 20 seconds work with an already programmed key? Im not looking for it to be comfort access just to lock/unlock and start the car.

To start the car, the transponder must be enrolled to the CAS. There is no way to do this without a dealer tool, or a good automotive locksmith.
